If you don't mind indulging my curiosity:
I've had my Gen2 R1S Max. Dual Motor (non performance) for a couple of months now, I chose to save extra the $$$ of the Performance option and put it into the battery/range. I had previously test driven a Gen.1 QM and so was delighted to find that the...
I'm seeing TPMS readings approx. 3psi less than my gauge and not evenly meaning I see individual tire pressures as much as 2psi different on the TPMS when I'm pretty sure I was within 1psi difference when inflating.
I was doubting my (pretty cheap) gauge but reading through this thread I'm now...
I've had my R1S Gen.2 for just over 2 weeks. I got around to installing a 2TB Sandisk Extreme potable SSD about 10 days ago. It didn't like it when I first plugged in, everything went blank/black and then a Rivian logo appeared and slowly everything came back. I assume this was some kind of self...
I took the delivery of a Gen2 R1S last week and am asking myself the same question.
Various threads and opinions on this but it seems to me that TuxMat (.com) got the most positives from folks that seemed to know the difference.
Tuxmat haven't yet scanned a 2025/Gen2 R1S and there is apparently...
Thanks MM, they were quick to reply via email that they expect the trunk mats in next week (which I assume means they are the same as previous model years) but that they don't have a date on updated floor mats (for 2025) as they have not yet scanned a vehicle, so could be a good while I guess?
Just saw this thread. I'll be picking up a Gen2 R1S Dual/Max in a few days on 8/26.
I have an old reservation and so get the discount on a shop vehicle. We weighed money into range over power (thinking that 500+HP and 4.5secs has to be enough coming from a Subaru Forester!), not really big road...
For anyone wondering if they can convert this Mercedes Sprinter Jack head without a lathe, I did it with a HF handheld angle grinder, then a hand file and then a HF sanding wheel and belt. It took longer than I thought - I probably should have been braver with the angle grinder. Keeping things...
Hi and congrats, I'm looking at a DM myself (although Max. battery) from the shop so options are limited. So good to hear that you find the 'basic' sound system sufficient.
I've test driven a Gen.1 Quad but nothing else and I haven't heard much about how the DM (non Performance) drives so would...
Thanks for this, at least it confirms that the info is correct and the portable compressor is real. That said assuming we're talking about what is visible on the 2nd image (sitting sideways) then that does look suspiciously like my little VIAIR pump or something of a similar size and so power...
As you say it does make sense for side of the road puncture repairs (as no spare supplied) but it just seems weird that I can't find any details on it. If it's not true and there is no portable option supplied then I'd put a higher value on the integrated option which could then effect the...
Thanks for the reply. I've had a little 12V VIAIR compressor in my Subaru for something like 10 years now, it's slow but gets there in the end although not sure how it might get on with the much higher PSIs and bigger tires of the Rivian?
It's not something I'd use so often and so I'd be happy...
The 'panel' compressor is now a paid option on the DM Gen.2 R1S but I saw on a comparison list riviantrackr.com that a 'Rivian Portable Air Compressor' now comes as standard with Gen.2 DM. I've had a sniff around but can't find any details on this portable compressor.
I'm likely buying from the...
Another pre-price-hike (R1S) reservation holder here hanging on for more info. I see it as a gamble on potentially getting some improvements vs potentially suffering from cost-cutting measures.
I probably would have jumped earlier but for the Quad/Dual debate and the extra cost of the Max Pack...
I'm in a similar position although now wringing my hands over the quad vs dual performance (R1S) conundrum and am also happy to wait longer for any other options or improvements.
Before the dual drive was an option to configure I was obviously looking at quad only and had the same question which...
I don't have a Rivian yet - slated for this year but am in a Quad/Dual drive decision paralysis.. but I do have a very similar dolly (usually used in a set of 4 for moving cars around) and can attest that it's super helpful for moving wheels into place when changing.
I use the height adjustment...
Sorry no, I meant maximum range (with large battery pack) = 21" wheels and no underbody protection (as I assumed the extra weight would affect range but there is now the doubt that the underbody might improve the aerodynamics).
Thanks for all thoughts on this, I haven't counted but seems that thinking is roughly split on this for a variety of reasons.
The one angle that I hadn't considered was mkg3's point on the shield offering a smoother underside and so potentially better aerodynamics = efficiency = range. I...
Thanks for thoughts.
To be clear I'm not seeing the Rivian as an investment as such, I'm fully aware that even at the discounted price I have that I will still lose money over the distance so it's more just a question of minimizing that loss when the time comes and so my concern that by the time...
