  1. Do you Hand Wash or Auto Car Wash?

Hand wash only. I can’t get myself to run through a gas station car wash if I’m not getting the discount for buying gas. I use Armour Detail Supply Hero Rinseless Wash. Mix it in 2 gallons of water in a single bucket. I work a couple panels at a time (ex. Driver door top/bottom, hood, quarter...
  2. New 22-inch Staggered Wheel Availability?

The Michelin Defenders are now available in 21" so you don't have to keep using Pirellis. Search through the forums there are multiple threads including: https://www.rivianforums.com/forum/threads/new-21-tire-option-michelin-defender-ltx-m-s-2-275-55-21-380.15645/...
  3. 21" Wheel weight as delivered

Any update on how the Aw09 compares to the 21s?
  4. EV use can be more expensive than gas

Replacing the battery at the 8 year replacement is not required assuming that Rivian's batteries will have a similar lifetime/degration as Tesla. The warranty for Tesla and Rivian says that it has to have at least 70% of its original capacity through the first 8 years or 150,000 (175 for quad...
  5. Multiple Errors // Update Version 2023.42.1

Mine did the same. Still had speedometer, but everything else was missing until restart finished. After everything came back the truck seemed fine. Definitely disconcerting for a minute!
  6. Does the tonneau cover effect range much?

Mythbusters did an episode on this once. They found that without a cover a pocket of air “sets up” in the bed of the truck. They couldn’t tell any efficiency difference between the two setups. But, don’t drop the tailgate, lowering the tailgate when the bed wasn’t covered DID drop efficiency...
  7. Seat Modifications or Aftermarket Seats

I hated that space in the seat also, and was thinking about modifications. Magically sometime in the last 8 months I’ve had the truck I just stopped noticing it. My recommendation would be to give it a little time before making any drastic adjustments!
  8. Show off your dashcam memory card install

I haven’t been able to get the Anker to work consistently (ordered from Amazon). It formatted and passed all the tests and I recorded a short video. Left the truck and came back and it said no card was setup. If I pull the microsd card and put it back into the anker the truck recognizes it...
  9. load sharing, hardwiring, and charging speed

    1) yes, 60 amps to get 48 to the truck. So if you actually want both charging at the same time you need 120 amps. 2) based on your answer to 3 if you really want 120 amps it will be FAR cheaper to run a sub panel to the garage with aluminum service wire and then put two 60 amp breakers in the...
  10. Brake light function with one pedal driving?

As others have noted it is based off of the amount of deceleration so if you only gently let up on the pedal the lights don’t always turn on. One thing to note is once you are driving in the truck the dash display WILL show you if the brake lights are on.
  11. Building a new home, charging advice

It should be far cheaper to run a single sub-panel (120A+/-) with aluminum service wire instead of two runs of copper. That also give you the flexibility to run different types of loads instead of just 2 EV chargers since you have a full panel in the garage.
  12. Frame Comparison : Rivian R1T vs. Ford F150 Lightning -- Munro Teardown YT

I did the factory tour and was able to watch them building the long side panels which is built up by welding small pieces together. The long side panels are built by machines, there is no person labor time involved. For the side panels there are two lines, left and right. Each starts with the...
  13. 39.1 messed up radio functionality

I can imagine 2 helpful favorites settings 1) order preference, manual or automatic by frequency. If manual should be able to long press and then drag the stations to a new spot in the grid (obviously only allow edits while parked) 2) “home” setting. when near home (X mile radius) the...
  14. ⛔️ Powered Tonneau cover removed from R1T production until further notice on all future deliveries

MythBusters did a show on this; the bed being open doesn’t hurt range. If I remember correctly their explanation was a bubble of air “settles” in the truck bed and acts in a way similar to having an actual cover.
  15. What are the chances the changes to OC and Explore might speed up delivery date estimates?

It would have been easier if they had started that way, but they currently have a spot on the truck that the tonneau cover slides into so they would need to design some type of rail that slots into where the existing tonneau cover used to sit when it is open. The reason they aren't doing this...
  16. 3D printer peeps: models of Rivian interior spaces?

It’s actually still free after a year, they just make you go through a little bit of pain to get your subscription going again. It stops being free after you start making X amount of money from using fusion 360 (I don’t remember what the amount is).
  17. Wheels: I switched from 21 to 20

Yes the 20s are forged. In the "01 Capability"/"Performance", then click the "Explore Performance" button: We offer two designs for the 20" wheel, both of which are forged and machined for a superior strength-to-weight ratio.
  18. Rivian App initial walk-through from owner.

The app doesn’t do anything until it is paired to the truck.
  19. Rivian's Future

Actually at this point it really doesn't matter what Jim Farley says, legally they (and any other pre-IPO holders) can't sell until 180 days after the IPO which is May 2022. And I can assure you Rivian doesn't (and at this stage really shouldn't) care about their stock price. Rivian made money...
