Yep, 3 of 4 of my door handles went bust. 2 out of warranty. There is an aftermarket gear you can buy for $165 to rebuild the door handle yourself. Rebuilding the door handle is easy. Getting the handle back on the door is another story... Took me about 2 hours total. Way better than dealing...
While we know that Tesla is going to be around for a long time, their focus is on delivering as many vehicles as fast as they possibly can ... not building the highest quality car possible. Tesla rankings in Consumer Reports is shameful for a company that has the combined valuation of everyone...
If the F-150 EV has 400+ miles of range I might consider it. Too many unknowns at this point to hold out. I really need a new vehicle in the next year. I suspect the F-150 will come with range around 250-300 miles and then have some kind of gas engine booster that you can buy or rent for trips.
Oh no, I think you are correct. This means Washington State is going to be among the last due to the dealer franchise laws. I might have to start shopping for the F 150 again!
Mountain bike trail etiquette in Seattle is to leave nothing of value in your vehicle. You should carry you wallet etc in a hip/fanny pack. Otherwise car break ins are out of control. Similar concept to not feeding the bears...
R1T vs F-150 Hybrid. Need a bed for bikes, Cub Scouts, and various other projects.
I like the R1T for no gas, frunk, parking ability, and performance.
I like the F-150 for reliability, service, large backseat, and long road trip freedom.
Not considering Cybertruck: Too bold, too big, the...
OTA was a mixed bag for us. Some were thrilling new features while others introduced bugs that you couldn’t undo. Other times it nags you to do the update but you can’t tell the difference.
I wish my Tesla had a bell or something to activate. Some people with headphones on will just stand in the middle of the parking lot. I once had to tap my horn as a pedestrian started walking sideways into my path. He was super mad that I used my horn.
I have tried switching insurance before. When you package everything together... everyone charges about the same. Curious if they will offer seismic and umbrella policies.
New & expiring tax credits will have an effect on resale value.
My wife really wants to keep our Model S. I am pleasantly surprised at its resale value after 6 years ... very tempted to trade it in for a brand new Model Y for little additional money. Typically we keep cars for 14 years.
I’m not really sure the R1T and the Cybertruck are competing in the same space. The R1T is a luxury vehicle for people who enjoy the outdoors or actually need to get work done. Rivian is going to be very hard on the Tesla Model X and maybe even Model S. Perfect for someone who is ready to...
I used to do it all the time until the kids came home from school and told me I needed to stop. I looked it up, it is a real concern in the Seattle area. Our road drains are not treated.
Sorry to be the nag... be careful when you hand wash at home that the soap drains into your yard. Soap and detergent is bad for the fish in the streams and lakes. Paying the few extra dollars to hand wash at the self service station is much better for the environment.
The frunk is going to be really nice, giving you the security of a car with the ability to haul big things in the back. The R1T should be easy to maneuver and park compared to something like the F-150. Personally I am currently using our SUV like a truck more than I am using the 7th row seating.
It is using the DC Fast charging at much faster rates or always charging to 100% that slightly diminish battery capacity. On our Tesla I dial it down to extend the life of the mobile charging cable not to protect the battery.
The voltage will vary by neighborhood. If yours is 240v you will max charge about 10% faster than 220v. Some commercial property is as low as 200v. Not much you can do about it.
