It takes a few minutes to cool the cabin, but once it does, it has no issues keeping it cool. The ventilated seats help a great deal as well (no more cold front, hot back issues).
I'm in the SF Bay Area as well, but in the South Bay where it does tend to get hotter. Driven on more than one day...
My hack is for the center console between the seats. I actually like the foot well and use it for things like my work backpack, my camera gear, etc., so for my work, it's actually perfect.
I think the impending death of ICE bikes is still quite a ways off. Currently, the only options are very pricey and limited to around 100 miles or so of mixed driving. One of my regular rides runs 400-600 miles, no way I could do that with an electric bike. I can't even do a round trip ride from...
Having lost the rear window in my M3 last week to someone curious about valuables in the car, I'm all about making sure that NOTHING is visible in the truck.
There was nothing in the car, either, but they popped the back seat to check the trunk. Which was also empty. So I'm out $556 for them to...
I'm liking the door pouch idea, thinking I may need to implement that as well.
It's funny how much we take a simple glove box for granted until we don't have it. There's still a litany of storage in the Rivian, but it's almost too much and too open to be effective, if that makes sense.
11" deep. It's more of an abyss than a storage area.
I did the split trays on top because I can reach in and lift them out easily so I can get to the lower layer, but something with a handle would work. The handle could even act as another divider if need be.
After losing my chapstick among the depths of the center console, I did a little measuring and a little shopping.
The console is 6x6 at the bottom, and 6x8(ish) at the top. I swung by The Container Store and picked up a few stackable wooden drawer organizers that allow me to give things a...
Have you ever clicked the "Sign up to learn about demo drives and events in your area" link at the top of the home page? I'm guessing here (as Rivian's communications are somewhat scattershot), but I would think that's the way to ensure you get a calendar icon when it's happening in your area.
^^ This is a great way to put it.
I get my truck on Friday morning, hoping not to have major issues, but am fully expecting a flurry of smaller ones. Without minimizing the impact of the folks here at all, Rivian has delivered over 3,000 trucks (as of the last earnings call, more by now). I...
Actually, they totally nailed it for their target demographic. This is a buyer who typically self-identifies with the words "brash, rough and tough". The only thing they didn't nail with this is including a pair of Hummer branded Oakley Blade sunglasses with every purchase.
I'll probably get downvoted for this, but keep the high likelihood of delays on mind when figuring out selling your truck.
We waited three weeks for a VIN, got one, did our contract, did financing with our CU and insured the truck as Rivian requested. A week later, they called and said the gave...
There's also the fact that they require an insurance card before you can arrange delivery, which I've never had to do before. My insurance company balked at it and pointed out the grace period to document a new car, but Rivian insisted, so we guessed at the date and put the truck on our plan...
This is pretty much where I'm getting my comfort from. Inevitably, they'll end up recalling it and replacing it with a system that functions better, in can't be a sustainable fix to have people reach out for regular service to unjam it, especially as more and more trucks get out in the wild...
Pardon me if I'm an idiot and reading this wrong, but Rivian claims a 415/420 hp rating for both motors for a total of 835.
Am I reading the video correctly that they're pulling 523/563 for an aggregate 1,086 horses?
In our M3, we have our dog in a car harness (has more material around the chest to spread impact energy more evenly than just a strap harness) and then a strap that connects from the harness to the seat anchor (for kid seats). It'll allow him some movement in the truck, let him fit (he's 70...
Good to know, thanks.
I actually grew up in Soda Springs, but haven't had a 4x4 before, so the "new rules" to follow will be fun.
We did go up to South Lake on 50 after Xmas (80 was closed) in my wife's Mazda CX-5 with cable chains (what the R1T will replace), and it was during the highest...
I didn't see the last ones, so thanks for lead. Heading over to read them fully.
That said, from what I saw on the CalTrans site, it only made the distinction by GVW and nothing else. Further reading required on my part to confirm it all.
