Just an update for those of you in Atlanta. My pickup has been delayed now for the 3rd time. They say the truck is in Denver ?‍♂️. Sort of discouraging that they cannot figure out what car will be where and when better. Maybe just specific to my VIN but FYI...
original appt. 6/26 - pushed back...
Rivian offered me the same as KBB.... but then the same dealership that I originally bought from gave me 4K more (38 from Rivian, 42 from dealer). So I went through dealer. Process (to the extent I went through it) was really straightforward and easy... but dunno how the hand-off would have gone
Trade is by far the most complicated part of this assuming you have financing worked out…. And I will say that I took my trade out cause original dealer made much better offer.
I also got some conflicting info saying it was ready and then … they are not so sure. Still freakin thrilled though.
Not sure if this will help. My reservation was from Oct 21 and my delivery date was Q3 24. I managed to ask successfully through a chat (which I waited 2 hours to enter). Note the thing that tells you place in line and how long it will take is all over the place. anyway - she check my history...
A few things I would tell others from I learned this far.
Atlanta has lots of inventory… which I find so strange since I know 2 others waiting until 2024. I ain’t complaining… but Rivian is having trouble delivering and here is a great easy way to turn sales quickly
Buying process is not so...
I went to R1 Shop and found my exact config on a 2023 LE and snagged it.
Grabbing on Monday.... so excited!

I currently have a Porsche Macan and had an i8 before that. I just test drove an R1S and while I didn't get above 80 MPH, the ride quality and responsiveness are top notch.
I placed my order 11/18/2021 for the most available combo ... R1S adventure pack, large battery, included wheels... (In Atlanta if that matters) and I have the same window. I am surprised. I see others with orders since mine with earlier windows and don't understand why
I didn't cancel ... so wouldn't get a call. But I think 70K+ (commitment) is worth a phone call. So I would applaud them doing so. They are in a really tough position. There is never anything locking people in to deliveries so they are really rolling the dice (along with us with the uncertain...
Selfishly I am happy to be getting the original price, I probably would have declined to move forward when mine was ready at the new pricing. I am impressed with the reversal.
However, bigger picture I really thought this could be the end of Rivian as a viable consumer automotive company...
I wonder given the reversal … how many people won’t get back in line and how much equity just went poof. All because of a poorly considered email and policy.
Mine went from 72 to 91k almost 30% increase. That is a real kick in the nuts. This is bad news for them and us. Cause everyone will keep their place in line and many will drop out when it is time to pay. So company will be a paper tiger.
would a price tag over 80k cancel the tax credit also?
