Good email to set expectations properly, I appreciate that (as a Max pack reservation holder).
One thing I think could be made more clear would have been stating whether or not adjusting your configuration from Max/Explore --> Adventure+Lg today or at any point would result in a sooner...
I was able to get behind the wall by Google searching the article title in quotation... i.e. "2022 Rivian R1T: Much Anticipated, Still a Work in Progress"
It prompted me to subscribe, and that after the first page load I'd need to pay $8/month to view again. But I could close out that message...
Couldn't agree more. I still remember when the configurator first went live, the feeling of being stunned in a good way at the impressive swath of selection, especially for a startup. The abundance of choice, not just on a grey scale, and with superior quality for pretty much all options to boot.
I don’t necessarily disagree with that logic, but it seems entirely the opposite of how Tesla approaches the same thing. They 100% prioritize the largest battery and most premium configurations rather than prioritizing quantity of deliveries, ever since the very beginning.
I had originally figured that Rivian would want to prioritize Max pack deliveries earlier (after LE’s). Tesla always pushes their pricier and higher margin models for faster delivery to help with their margins, especially in the ramp up phase for new models. I’m surprised to hear that folks...
Of course, there is a +33% relative delta. My point is that the absolute difference in range diminishes with every factor that reduces range/efficiency for the vehicle overall: AT's configuration, cold weather, weight of load, highway driving speed, etc... It just means that the +33% delta is...
I'm a Tesla owner and I can appreciate your points. I'm quite torn on the Max pack, to be honest.
On the one hand, for adventures specifically, I do think having maximum trip range will be helpful to get to remote areas off the beaten path. I'd be a little nervous about the Large pack with...
I didn't realize there is a Rivian logo light that beams down from the doors to the ground. Is that a setting that is enabled/disabled? Honestly I've never been a fan of when manufacturers do that, it's cool once and then feels kinda tacky after.
At 2:10 and 4:40:
Now that we have some data points around their target weekly production and approximate timeline to ramp up ("late 2023"), we can do rough napkin math for how long they'll cumulatively produce different numbers of vehicles.
For instance, I'm Jan 2021 pre-order, so maybe somewhere around #30k...
If the vehicle price cap stays at $74k for pickups, it practically creates a $10,000 + ($73k minus $67.5k) = $15.5k price gap for Adventure vs. Explore packages.
Unless getting a base Adventure with no upgrades for paint/wheels or most other things.
Love my Model 3, beautiful car with world class efficiency. But I can't take it off road at all, and I even feel bad getting it dirty. Very excited to get a car that's clean, beautiful and capable of hitting the trails.
Same as many others, I've been super swayed towards FE. Only problem is Rivian Blue is my favorite exterior color by far. I'm imagining they could either clash or be fine. Would love to see a pic of them configured together, but not sure that anyone will have the same crazy idea o_O
This is a great story. It's so inspiring to see RJ deeply and genuinely care about customers, his employees and the broader impact of his company :)
I'm curious, what were RJ's thoughts about certain combos??
This thread is a gem of real-world photos and helpful in thinking about colors. Only problem is it's 184+ pages
This is a long shot, but does anyone know if there's a way to bulk download the images in this thread? I think it'd be worth organizing them by colors so folks who are still on...
I know that these two colors are pretty darn different, and I fully own that this comment doesn't help anyone else (facepalm). I just need to vent that I am SO torn between LA Silver and Rivian Blue! Love them both
Bravo, I thoroughly enjoyed the investigative sleuthing. It was enough to drag me out as a fellow long-time lurker.
The only wrench I'd throw into the mix is: Assuming they were driving at highway speeds from their last charge, the actual range would be a fair bit less than an EPA-rated range...
