Cheers! Going through life assuming and wishing the worst on everyone you encounter certainly takes less empathy. I hope every stranger you encounter is as generous to you as you are to them.
Rivian is the only quad motor offroad vehicle on the market. Other offroad (or on-road!) EVs all do this with open diffs and ABS. (And that's fundamentally what systems like ATRAC do as well.)
Seattle prices are a small part of it, but the bigger issue is a service upgrade, the charge location and my panel being on opposite sides of the house, and no crawlspace. Basically the best route is to run 75ft of conduit, replace the panel, and upgrade service (which means running new cabling...
Regrettable, you're wildly overestimating the electrical integrity of my house ?
Not only do I not have two outlets on two breakers, but the entire garage, master bath (including line voltage electric heater), and all my basement + laundry room outlets share a single 20a breaker.
Flipped...
I occasionally L2 charge at work when I start to fall behind (e.g. below 50% during the week), and use DC fast charging on road trips or long drives. I keep the charge limit at 70 unless I have a long trip planned.
Would love to put in L2 but we need new panels, service upgrade, etc - it's...
Yes, a plugged in EV is a happy EV. I only have 120v at home and not enough on the circuit for both EVs, so my wife and I trade the cord between our Model Y and R1T.
I've been the victim of multiple breakins and many other types of property crime, so I get the frustration here. And there's a non trivial chance you're totally right.
But - to the "piece of shit" and "a shame nothing will happen" crowd -
Nobody in this video committed a crime. There was no...
I was up at Stevens Pass on Tuesday - drove up early (to beat an avy control closure) so I was in fresh tracks most of the drive to the summit, and got 12-18" of snow while I was there.
I was super impressed with Snow Mode, does just what it says on the tin. Never felt regen slip even a little...
If you read Rivian's post, they confirm towing capacity is the same across all three systems.
(I imagine the limit here is the frame + brakes, not power.)
Modern AWD with ABS torque vectoring is very effective and avoids serious downsides of lockers (can't be used on-road, forces all but one wheel to turn at a suboptimal speed, etc.). Is it 100% as good as full lockers for the crawling use cases where lockers shine most?
Probably not. Is it 95+%...
They're awesome! We can fit two kayaks and a Bernese in the Model Y without folding the seats down, game changer for sure. Even in the truck it's nice not to have to strap things to the roof.
Not a lot (maybe a half inch?) and it only covers the tube/stanchions, so you do want to watch out for wheel contact. Hasn't been an issue for me but I could see how it would be with different steering.
Part of the reason I'm comfortable using it is that I have PPF, so a little scuffing isn't...
+1 here, my wipers have been super reliable and (much to my satisfaction) never feel like they're on jack-russell-terrier speed. It's a welcome change from my Tesla which goes into a goddamn fit if it has seen anything but a blue sky in the last 100 miles (and has a hell spiral of terrible...
Seems like a cool solution! I have to ask though... what's wrong with the under-seat compartment as a sunglass bin? I assumed that's what it's made for :)
Not trying to steal @Law's thunder (I would buy those if he makes them!) but I found the Pisgah Pad works as a conceptually similar solution to minimally protect the bike and tailgate without a full pad: https://www.rivianforums.com/forum/threads/r1t-and-mountain-biking.831/post-240929
