Here’s why: (i) The OD of 1” flexible metal conduit does not match the readily available clamp sizes, (ii) this clamp is very secure (screwed into the center of the stud) and critically is offset from the back wall sufficiently for the conduit to line up nicely with the knockout on the underside...
I would have loved to use it, but that would have required opening a large hole in my living room wall and reaching behind a large slab of marble surrounding a fire place, and running 240v wiring close to a source of heat - absolutely not going there. There is a firebreak between the garage...
I ran 4 AWG THHN in 1" metal conduit to my garage for a little future proofing. It did not cost that much more, but will let me run a dual charger, or a higher current charger down the road without having to pull new wire. I installed my Rivian charger this afternoon and had a pleasant...
Thank you for posting this thread. I’m planning the same trip from MI to Crested Butte, CO, and possibly down to Santa Fe, MN. Your report confirms my fears about the poor state of rural chargers. This is my first EV and I’m jumping in with both feet. Like you will be notifying every charging...
I’m about to order a TeslaTap MINI 60A. On their website they say that it may not work with the “large Rivian ground pin”. Could you confirm which version of TeslaTap Mini you have that it works for you? Thanks.
8 steps just opened up for me with VIN 102xx, still a 2022 model year (with AT 20s so they must have a new batch in). I‘ve signed the contracts etc, but not uploaded insurance coverage as I don’t have a delivery date, and have not paid anything beyond the $1k deposit. For those of you that...
I am amazed at the troll-like posts by people who likely have little experience using CP/AA or do not lead complex highly scheduled lives where CP/AA help enormously. My next meeting is in my phone, one click and its navigating me there, I join Teams calls from CP, CP reads my text messages and...
Hmm, yes I see 6 AWG max on the Rivian EVSE hardwire. This is an issue as code (and common sense) requires the jump from 6AWG to 4AWG and even 3AWG for longer 60A runs (see https://learnmetrics.com/60-amp-wire-size/). I’m going to see if I can expand the wire holes in the EVSE, or worst case...
Your install is similar to mine: 56’ run across basement to garage. I’m using 4 AWG THHN for lives and 8 AWG for ground (due to voltage drop, and a little future proofing) in 1” EMT conduit with 1” Flex conduit at each end. I’ll post more photos as I get time to work on this.
I had the same issue with a C8 Corvette, only it was the steeply raked windshield and tumble home on the side windows. High end ceramic tint did an incredible job of eliminating UV and IR. AC fan was noticeable quieter, dark interior never became too hot to get into when parked on warm sunny...
