  1. Borrow/ rent NACS adapter??? Maybe for the weeeknd of 7/18-7/23.

More disturbing than the route planning was the real world range of the max pack
  2. Home Level 2 chargers—seeking basic guidance

Many people hate to hear this, but its a real problem. The proper receptacle is considerably more expensive and beefier that what is commonly available at the big box stores. Low efficiency vehicles charge for many hours.
  3. If Rivian had a trade-in incentive program... trade Gen 1 for Gen 2?

You would be mad at what Rivian would offer. Also, Rivian is liukely concerned about unloading their new Gen1 R1T. A trade-in program makes their situation worse.
  4. Rivian and VW exploring deeper collaboration: hardware and production

The big story from the German side is VWs lack of confidence in doing software development. If I was German this would concern me. A Scout with Rivian software will cut into R2/3 sales. But obviously Rivian calculates a net positive.
  5. Rivian preparing in-house V2H charger

I doubt its that straightforward. NACS is a superset that includes CCS. Compatibility fro bi-directional is unclear.
  6. Your R1 Shop Impressions

If you have been shopping the shop, what's your impression of inventory? My thoughts are 1) Very few standard+. Standard isn't a great choice for cold climates, so the lack of standard+ is surprising. 2) Few more expensive vehicles configurations have premium audio 3) They make a big effort to...
  7. How I Know Cybertruck Pre-Orders have TANKED on Sales

I agree. I think the R1T is a great all around vehicle, but the back is too small to call it a great truck. Its good for people who don't really need a full pickup but also don't need three rows. The Lightning is massive compared to the R1T. But the R1S is a vehicle that neither Ford or Tesla...
  8. Vandalized

    Put him on NextDoor
  9. Rivian preparing in-house V2H charger

24kw (power), not kwh (energy). Very few households exceed 24kw except when charging EVs. DC doesn't matter. Watts are watts. You can look at your electric bill to know your home usage. At a minimum most households could go at least a couple of days with air conditioning.
  10. RJ Explains: Why Rivian Builds Its Technology In-House

Take a look at r/teslalounge and teslamotorsclub.com. Over five million Tesla owners. Probably 70-80% iphone users. No one cares about carplay. Maps needs to be great as does iMessage integration for people to forget about carplay.
  11. RJ Explains: Why Rivian Builds Its Technology In-House

r/TeslaMotors has 3 million subscribers. A search for Carplay over the last year yields zero results. This is why no carplay. Tesla owners are the classic affluent tech oriented iphone users and they don't care about carplay. Rivian is correct in not implementing carplay. But Rivian has...
  12. RJ Explains: Why Rivian Builds Its Technology In-House

They just need to copy Tesla. Carplay is inconsistent with Rivian's strategy. Tesla proves that Carplay is not necessary to sell cars.
  13. New Rivian Models Teased in Shareholder Letter

Or the Scout shares the R2 platform. I look at how slowly VW has rolled out the ID buzz and I have to think they believe they have significant problems getting vehicles into manufacturing.
  14. Cloaked Audis, covert CEO meeting: how VW's $5 billion Rivian bet transpired (Must Read Article!)

I agree. VW had to answer the question "What happens to our investment if Rivian runs out of cash?". The probable answer is that VW is just fine at buying Rivian at $2. For shareholders that sucks, but for owners it is security. I wonder if the Scout will have the architecture from the joint...
  15. Battery Questions

Is Standard+ LFP? Why no large pack in the store?
  16. Cloaked Audis, covert CEO meeting: how VW's $5 billion Rivian bet transpired (Must Read Article!)

One underappreciated choice Rivian we now know made was to put part of the IPO winfall into Gen 2. Rivian makes great choices on the big stuff. RJ and all the senior leadership deserves credit. Rivian clearly made some bad choices on the cost and complexity of Gen 1. But the IPO allowed them...
  17. Investor Day 2024 Live! Gen 2 range figures and other findings

65K is about what Land Rover sells in the U.S. Needs an inverter. The wall unit is just a fancy extension cord
  18. Investor Day 2024 Live! Gen 2 range figures and other findings

Just a few. For example, I believe that the antilock brakes are a true ECU. Thats an area where Tesla may buy the complete system
  19. Rivian On Front Page (second story from the top) On Reuters This Morning

Imagine how frustrated senior VW leadership must be with their engineering to make this deal. VW is literally paying billions for the design decisions made by a handful of key Rivian employees.
