That's what we call the "Rivian Surprise".

I would never go off road without a spare. I suspect in the future, those that actually like to off road will get a rear bumper swing out mounted full size spare carrier. Also the Rivian winch mount seems to have fallen off the edge of the world. Not good for an adventure vehicle.

Yikes, looks like a bird cage fell on the ground and got smashed. I doubt that lower mounting is robust enough for a winch or other serious force item. Not to mention that low of a receiver up front destroying approach angle/off-road ability.

I have a brand new 2023 F150 Raptor that cost $90K and just got a USAA replace quote for a Rivian R1S. The Rivian would bump my 6-month policy on the Raptor from $720 to $980. o_O

Actually, with that great of a slope on the windshield combined with armored glass, the CT should have exceptional resistance to broken windshields.

I think this video shows the issues with Rivian's quad motor setup well at the 7 minute mark: Rivian struggling with a little bit of loose rocks on an almost level surface. Notice the right rear wheel/tire accelerating and decelerating at rapid speeds, tossing rocks out, tons of shock loads...

Tinting a cars windshield will make the largest difference with regard to thermal heat load intrusion. I've tinted all of my vehicle windshields with light ceramic tint for many many years and it makes the car so much more comfortable.
