My biggest recurring issues with Highway Assist is it getting confused by tar snakes or when it just sort of gives up and shuts off randomly.
I sometimes get very mild phantom braking on highways, but never anything that lasts long or causes a panic. I get far worse phantom braking when using...
It’s already been posted that the Menomonee Falls service center is taking appointments, but I drove by today anyway just to check it out since I wasn’t far away. Not much to see from the outside, but signage is up and there are a few R1Ts in the back.
It’s fine, though not terribly convenient. I’ve never had any Chicago-specific service issues. It’s annoying not being able to contact them directly and having to go through the centralized customer service, but that’s not unique to Chicago.
Not sure if it’s improved, but the one time I needed...
To follow-up on my own post, it was not a software issue I guess. I replaced the microSD card I was using and now it’s working fine again. Not sure if the card degraded from use, but it was one of the Samsung “Endurance” cards that’s made for dashcam use.
I can’t speak for RJ, but he may be specifically referring to the vehicle control fly-out window in this specific example. CarPlay may be technically easy to implement, but there is a separate certification process where Apple can exert control. Apple has to approve of any native UI overlays...
I just had this problem pop up today. It’s telling me my storage device is too slow, even though it’s the same one I was using previously.
Seemingly a software issue, but an infotainment reset hasn’t helped.
The slowing in curves in one of the most frustrating aspects of day to day Highway Assist usage for me. It slows down on curves that absolutely don’t need reduced speed, which then just annoys not only me (because I can feel it) but also cars behind me, which sometimes results in people trying...
Sounds wouldn’t be the problem. If the system was setup to cast to the rear screen it wouldn’t be a violation, even with sound playing.
Theoretically it would be similar to my former GX. If I played a DVD in park, with the parking brake engaged, it could play on all three screens (center front...
I don’t plan to upgrade anytime soon, just because of gen2, but I’ll eventually replace my R1T with a newer R1T or R1S.
Right now the price is hard to swallow, especially with some of the build quality issues I have now that I’m two years in. On the other hand, there’s nothing in the pipeline...
This has been such a disappointing development for Volvo. I was initially very excited about the EX90 because I’ve been a Volvo fan for years but it’s just underwhelming for the price. I had the chance to see it in person a couple of months ago and I left feeling very lukewarm, not excited.
The...
That’s how it (Highway Assist) works most of the time but not all of the time. There are instances where it completely disengages, which is likely what OP is referring to. When Highway Assist has a planned disengagement, such as an upcoming junction, you can disengage by moving the wheel and...
It might be unreliable without camera confirmation because the proximity sensors can also pick up walls, plants, high curbs, etc. it’s very similar to the old Autopilot version that was based on MobileEye.
The original Model X had the same issue where cars only displayed on the drivers screen...
Unfortunately, this is likely not possible with the Gen 1 vehicles. Apparently the truck is only using the single windshield camera for driver assistance, which is why vehicles disappear as soon as they are out of the view of that camera. It’s also why the Gen 1 vehicles will never get lane...
It might not be the air suspension. Hopefully Rivian looked at the entire suspension when you took it in and not just the air suspension components. Another poster mentioned they had a hydraulic leak, not an air suspension leak, and that doesn’t surprise me. I had a GX 460 before my R1T and...
I mean…you aren’t telling me anything I don’t already know but as a big update that both came later than the usual cadence AND the first update after all of the announced changes, it’s still a fairly limited update. There isn’t much here for me to get excited about.
Finally got the update last night and I guess it’s fine? The previewed changes I’m most excited about aren’t included (casting, Apple Music, launch for gen 1 quad, and interior lighting) so this update doesn’t feel as substantial as I’d hoped. I have an R1T and can’t really tell the difference...
The only times where I've encountered serious steering direction issues with Highway Assist have been with tar snakes and construction zones. I now know not to rely on Highway Assist whenever there is a lane shift that is likely unmapped. Also, when I start to see a lot of tar snakes in the lane...
