They are the biggest of those remaining outside the NACS alliance but in Q3 US BEV market share VW Group had 6.5% share according to Cox Automotive.
Not a whole lot in the grand scheme of things.
There is not a 1 year wait time on R1S.
More like 4-6 months depending on where and configuration ordered.
If there was a 1 year wait time prices would not be dropping.
If they deliver on the promised range it is a massive bonus if the pack is just 13 kWh greater.
It means the gravimetric power density is much improved.
The weight has gone down while the energy stored goes up. Efficiency goes way up.
Honda is further behind.
And is in bed with GM in fuel cells and autonomous driving in addition to EV platforms.
The Silverado WT4 EV started rolling off the production line on June 30.
Rivian hasn't met the production schedule they set a few years ago.
Tesla hasn't met the production...
All the criticisms of Fisker from Rivian fans are the same criticisms of Rivian from Tesla fans.
Concentrate on ramping 1st vehicle before revealing 3rd vehicle. Vaporware. Derivative with a dash of ugly. etc etc etc.
1) Dealers don't decide what they are going to charge for a vehicle. They can ask for a price but there has to be a willing buyer for it to sell at the asking price.
2) Some dealers in my area of Los Angeles are asking over MSRP but they don't seem to be getting it. The tightest supply is on...
In most States of the US it is illegal for the OEM to price cap the price of new vehicles.
There is also no OEM imposed floor.
A year from now Silverado EV 4T WT could be selling for a $10k discount.
Legacy OEMs don't offer subsidies to dealers for the losers that can't move off the dealer...
Moving forward from 2025 all Rivians will have native NACS port. Only a tiny percentage of Rivians moving forward will have CCS ports.
So of course RAN will be moving to NACS.
This will be all good.
If you want to turn the Supercharger Network into the CCS Networks.
If you want the stations to simply work without worry or fuss then you don't want leadership by committee.
No it shouldn't.
The entire Network should be available to all cars from OEMs that agree to adopt NACS.
Having "magic docs" and adaptors on hundreds of millions of future cars forever is just plain dumb.
No really.
Tesla has said NACS is an open standard.
If Tesla denies Rivian's application to join NACS/Supercharger Network on equal footing to Ford and GM that is Tesla exercising monopolistic power to limit competition.
Tesla would lose big time in court. Not to speak of court of public...
It is doing no such thing.
Tesla can increase prices next month 1%. or 20%.
Tesla raised prices in from 2020 through mid 2022.
This is telling the global auto industry that in the global EV market Tesla is the big dog.
Tesla eats first. Then everyone else divides what market share is left.
BYD sells a lot cheap krapp in China and 3rd world countries with razor thin margins.
Post sales by revenue instead of units sold.
Or post by profit per unit. Or total profit.
Tesla is killing BYD in Europe by a wider margin.
Wider still in the US.
Tesla's Mexican made Model 2 is going to...
All car dealers can put whatever price they want on their vehicles.
Just like individuals.
I expect supply and demand will be more in balance in ~18 months when Sierra EV hits dealer lots and shortly thereafter there will be small discounts off MSRP.
It seems every fansite of American automotive brands say of the American competition either "meh, not my style" or " that is craptastic."
Cool car but "over 300 miles of range" is not acceptable.
$1k for every 1 mile of EPA range is too much money.
