This is how word gets around not to buy a Rivian, because it's way too expensive to fix.
Unless you placed your chips on Nvidia, $50k for a minor repair is insane for most people.
The problem is the costs for dcfc. It's not a good idea for small business to install dcfc due to the high costs of hardware, design, permits and installation. Then there is the operating cost that will kill off the idea due to demand charges. Demand charges need to be reworked to amortize over...
But the Tesla system is closed, usage agreements were generated with the competing makers, which proves my point that open systems aren't sustainable. Essentially they created a rather large consortium, something I spoke of long ago.
Rivian should keep their system closed, price it for a decent...
There's no money in selling electricity. Nobody gets rich selling bottled water out of a vending machine.
If these manufacturers were serious about it, they'd lock up their charging network and make it proprietary, or form a consortium. Charge a high fee to make a decent profit at dcfc that...
I agree with codogman, do what is best.
Personally I think there's too much us vs them mentality in the EV/ice world. Either one will work, enjoy the experience regardless. Glad nobody got hurt.
Not sure why the love of hydrogen, it's not like it exist in a raw form, most colors require some sort of external energy to process it into a usable from it's compound. Hydrogen only has that one electron in the lowest energy shell, so it's not like each atom is oozing with energy. Creating...
The oil/gasoline industry has had decades to refine and streamline the filling processes, it exists because it works and it's competitive. The charging industry has no where close to that. The future of travel is not sitting at a Walmart parking lot for an hour waiting for your car to charge...
That's all fine and dandy until you need a charge out in the public infrastructure where shit hits the fan.
The average driver fills up once every ten days. I rarely ever go inside to pay, in fact I don't remember what decade it was when I did. Five minutes tops and I'm out.
I get it the EV...
Frankly this makes zero sense.
If there is a faulty card reader you generally pay inside with a cashier and can even pay with cash. Rarely is this even the issue.
I'm not sure why you bring car jacking into the conversation, you can get car jacked at a signal light. With fuel stations you can...
Bottom line: Gasoline powered vehicles will be around for a very long time no matter what the politicians like to say or threaten with some pie in the sky future regulation.
Agree, it's also an inexpensive way to be unique by using square, oval, triangle or whatever shape headlights. With 90% of all other headlights having a angry look (I guess people want others to think they're angry) it's a breath of fresh air. Hopefully Rivian keeps it as their unique signature...
Agree!
Cramer contradicts himself. For a time and fun I was recording his stock calls, tracking the gains/losses, let's just say almost every call he made resulted in a loss. I can't believe his show still airs. His whole show sounds and looks like a circus yet he expects people to follow his...
I would agree with 80% of Rivian buyers are primarily white, but they're not Cramer watchers. Anyone following Cramer will end up in the poor house, I'm serious. That guy is a complete buffoon.
This isn't good, why does he want to sink down and go on Cramer? Cramer is a laughingstock.
Then again, if the two can figure out how to get the share price back to $22 so I can get out without a loss I'm for it.
Bottom line, going in Cramer's show isn't a good portrayal for Rivian.
The glass roof is used as a wow factor to motivate the purchase. When you're paying premium, in these cases $70, 80+k you expect a glass roof to not break, frankly it's somewhat laughable.
He said he rest his elbow on the glass which is probably more like 7 or 8 lbs.
For shits and giggles I just went out and pressed down very hard with a few fingers in the center of my Honda roof glass, no damage, no nothing, just as I would expect.
Sounds like Rivian roof glass is very fragile.
