  1. Took a road trip in my ICE vehicle. My thoughts...

I thought this was a good, honest write-up. Coming back to an ICE after a long time in the R1T (or any BEV) is a good exercise to those fortunate enough to do so. As someone who has had multiple Volvos (my wife is on her 3rd one), I find that they are underrated. Probably the best seats in...
  2. Anyone interested in a pair of unopened roof racks?

@DTown3011 & @brancky3 - Unfortunately I just sold them a couple days ago and realized I still had this thread out here. Sorry about that. I did do some basic shipping calculation, and given the size/weight, shipping them would nearly put them at the same price as getting them directly from...
  3. Official Rivian Email: A Look Ahead to 2023. Rivian Membership cancelled and unbundled into subscription services

I'm surprised they didn't just wait 11 more days - until January 16th - to send this out so they could include details.
  4. Official Rivian Email: A Look Ahead to 2023. Rivian Membership cancelled and unbundled into subscription services

We have a Volvo that has "driver assist" (from what I can tell, essentially what Driver+ is), and it's not only free, but in the testing I've done on my R1T, the Volvo system is just as good or better. Of course, the Volvo one is not improving, so there's a lot more potential in the Rivian...
  5. When your R1T is 4 days old and you go to Costco....

So true! I always park out in the boonies for the same reason that @Gavinmcc mentioned, and I, too, always have someone parked right next to me. Of the 100s of empty spots, you just had to park next to me?!
  6. Hey Flipped R1T, Meet Stuck R1S

I'm glad to see they at least locked it
  7. RIP - Powered Tonneau ?? (says Rivian engineer)

I agree - I was also told by an engineer that they weren't going to be making the Max pack. We still haven't seen it - the Max pack - but there were at least some recent communications that doubled down on it eventually showing up. Hopefully the same is true for the redesigned tonneau cover
  8. Disappointing service experience & lessons learned

Agree - I don't fault Rivian for any of the issues with the truck, issues with manufacturing, etc. I signed up for that. What I do fault them for is their multiple "own goals" - things they committed to and didn't follow through on. Even just proactive communication every few days would have...
  9. Disappointing service experience & lessons learned

Hehe good to know. I guess at least I'd have a car in case of emergency, so with hindsight I still should have gone this route just in case. But good to know (which was speculation on my part anyway) it drives no sense of urgency :-)
  10. Disappointing service experience & lessons learned

No and yes. Initially, there wasn't one which is what tipped me off to the fact that maybe my appointment wasn't actually scheduled for the date they told me. I learned this because I did get a Work Order for a different appointment. Eventually I got one for the appointment for which I am...
  11. Disappointing service experience & lessons learned

I thought I'd share an ongoing disappointing service experience. Partially to vent, partially to share what I've experienced and what I would have done differently. After taking delivery of my truck, I relatively quickly noticed I had some rattling from the dash & driver door, some weird...
  12. Official Rivian Email: Updates on Purchasing Adventure Gear -- Certain products will no longer be available in the configurator

If anyone in Southern California is interested in a brand new set of crossbars (still in their box), I'd be happy to sell mine at the original $450 price. I thought I wanted a roof top tent; I guess the wait for the RIvian tent gave me enough time to do more research and realize I don't want...
  13. Need new tires replacement on R1T after 16K miles

I'm very curious to see how this works out for myself and I follow all the posts on this topic carefully. In the past I've always enjoyed hard driving now and then (when a good road presents itself); at other times I am probably driving miss Daisy, lifting and coasting. I keep regen on High...
  14. Anyone interested in a pair of unopened roof racks?

I purchased a set of roof racks with my vehicle that I don't need anymore. I'd be happy to sell them to anyone in SoCal for the original price I paid for them -- $425 -- the pre-March original pricing. They are still in the original box, unopened. I live in Orange County - I'd be happy to...
  15. Camping with R1T and Electric Grill at beach cliff edge

Love the write-up and pics. Thanks for sharing. I spy a similar Gazelle tent in the background to what I have. Looks like Orange County somewhere - where were you camping?
  16. Electricity rates went up 64% - Time to work remote remotely!

The free charging infrastructure in Southern California is very limited. A shopping center I frequent quite frequently has two and the same two cars are always blocking them -- incredible that they're shopping and charging on all the same days when I do. I certainly don't think they should...
  17. Electricity rates went up 64% - Time to work remote remotely!

Wow, sorry to hear about the huge jump in electricity costs. Part of the reason I ultimately invested in solar panels was because 1) the cost of electricity doesn't seem to ever go down, and 2) I don't anticipate my electricity needs going anywhere but up over time. I gotta say that I find the...
  18. Driver Profiles trying to murder me.

I, too, have this issue. I've tried quitting the app on her phone and it doesn't seem to solve it. I'd have her turn off bluetooth, but then she forgets to turn it back on. Maybe I have to go the route of having her phone be signed in as me... sad to have to work around at all, but she...
  19. Tonneau Redesign Ready???

I'll post them again - I added them earlier but sometimes the messages move around in order I've noticed. Now, are they actually any wider than others' slats? No idea :-) That's what I was told but didn't have a different truck to compare with. For reference, my VIN is mid 11k
  20. “The Rivian R1S is Surprising - I think I made a mistake…” [by JerryRigs Everything YT]

FWIW I've heard RJ gush a few times in different videos about how they can paint cars in any color (in any sequence) without having to mix / switch colors. I'm sure there's a lot more to it which makes this hard, but it gave me the impression that they wouldn't have to batch colors to avoid...
