I have run the Michelin LTX Platinums since March 2024. They've been good to me. Wear seems to be within expectations. Noise is nonexistent. I have no issues in rain or snow - quite the opposite as they've done well in both. My only complaint is they're a LT-rated tire so they are heavy. The...
I’ve never seen this mentioned before. Maybe they’re using an updated film in its construction to address the cabin heating issues? Do you notice any difference between the old and new?
I would be upset if that were my R1S and it had two different glass types on the roof.
How is the fit/finish of the Janka mount? Does it slide easily in/out of place? Does it stay put with the magnets?
Is the top of the comma screen obscured by the rear view mirror with it mounted up that high?
Nice work!
I know exactly the pain you’re talking about. I cut a piece of scrap wood that I use to hold it up - serves the same purpose but your design is way more elegant. And it doesn’t get misplaced.
I 2nd the request to share the STL if you’re so inclined.
I appreciate all the advice. I picked up the door today. Rather than building a frame I used some recently handed-down metal shelves to help hold it upright.
Shelves were screwed together at the front of the bed and strapped 4 ways. Then two straps over the top of the door.
Everything worked...
I have a new sliding glass door to pick up this weekend. Has anyone transported one in the bed of their R1T and care to share how it went?
These large doors are supposed to be transported upright, else risking damage to the glass. I’ve seen folks build a temporary structure out of framing...
Well F. That’s not the answer I was looking for! /S :)
I think you’ve sold me. I agree to using it on every drive. I use Driver+ every time I can. Thankfully in KC almost all major routes have Driver+ enabled which is nice. But it’d sure be nice to have it on unmapped, divided lane roads and...
What’s your verdict after a short time using the Comma 3x?
I’m seriously considering it, but at $1,000 I question if it’s really worth it to me. Then again, Ford charges $500/year for Blue Cruise so I guess $1,000 isn’t that big of a stretch.
My other concern about the Comma device is that...
I agree with your sentiment. In addition there's the also the responsibility of taking it down to keep it away from prying eyes. Even parking in the garage at home most nights, I can envision at least 4-5 times per week where I'd want to take it down and move it out of sight. Yeah, there are...
I don't love the weight and stiffness of my Platinums, but I disagree about them being terrible on snow and wet. We've had a lot of snow (for my region) this winter and I've found the handling to be similar to the 21" Pirellis they replaced. Wet performance has been fine as well.
I too got the 12V battery warning yesterday morning. And this morning I had to fly out. There were no open EV charging spots at the airport (at least 1/5 of them were ICEd at MCI) so there it sits with temperatures in the 20s until I get home tomorrow evening. Battery is currently at 46%...
The brackets are definitely fragile! I quickly designed the bracket three years ago so I could have the lights ready for an event and told myself I'd go back and design something stronger, but they work well enough and it's so cheap to print new ones.
Congrats on the A1! I am so tempted to buy...
