Talking about aluminum - Rivian's chief engineer Brian Gase was on the team at Ford that created the aluminum body F-150. So there's plenty of expertise at Rivian for properly developing an aluminum truck body.

Very cool. So it sounds like a detachable accessory battery pack that we can get for our phones? From the diagrams it looks pretty big though. And it being a battery, it might be too heavy for one person to install/remove often?

The more I look at the R1S the more it reminds me of a futuristic Range Rover, like in these new pics. Subtle, strong, classy, boxy upright styling. I have a deposit down for R1T but the R1S has totally grown on me and I'm predicting it'll be difficult to choose once I have to make that decision.

Please share your pics, thoughts and impressions @PoorPilot and @VinsRiv. Need to live vicariously through the lucky members who get to see it soon. Or maybe I could try to make the drive from Boston and we can have a first-ever Rivianforum meet :D

They could just be understaffed too. As a startup I'm sure they're mostly focused on R&D right now. I think they've done fairly well with marketing so far.

Wish we could see more! But from what we can see that's an ultra aggressive design with super flared fenders and very angular lines. It's a good start :)

Would have been a good opportunity to see how its battery performs in the cold too.

Good point. Hadn't thought of that aspect of off-roading an EV. Has anyone seen photos of the Rivian R1T or R1S undercarriage? Any skid plates protecting the underbody?

That was awesome. Shows how passionate some of us are about Rivian. But, it does make the wait seem even longer :)
