They'll be in a much better position to raise capital after they achieve gross profit, which may happen as soon as Q4, and they have plenty of cash on hand to get to that point. After gross profit, increased Amazon deliveries, and more fleet customers buying in volume next year, institutions...
I'm still holding RIVN with avg cost around 15
I'm sure they're comping at the bit to do this, but they need to finish selling the existing inventory first. Hopefully they'll introduce the "revamped" R1 line before the earnings call on May 7.
I doubt things are that dire: On the last earnings call, Rivian said they still expect the shutdown changes to lead to a "modest gross profit" in Q4 2024. https://electrek.co/2024/02/21/rivians-gross-margins-slip-q4-2023-but-more-to-it/
Of course, they'll still need higher volumes to reach...
Yep, bad connection in the outlet (possibly resulting from years of plugging and unplugging chargers), happened to me in my old garage. Hardwired EVSE is the way to go if you want to avoid this in the future.
Isn't the path to profitability: (i) gross profit starting in Q4 2024 following structural cost reductions and better supplier arrangements (I know this doesn't mean overall profitability, but it's a critical step), (ii) new fleet customers for the RCV starting in 2025 (some of whom are already...
“We are increasing the overall capacity and efficiency of our lines,” Tim Fallon, executive vice president of manufacturing in Normal, said. “Plus, we’re making a lot of upgrades to our vehicles, many that you won’t see, but they help us with our costs,” Fallon said, according to the Chicago...
Or a plug in charger rated for 40A (9.6 kW) charging (if there are any). For max speed you'll want a 60A circuit/breaker, which lets you charge at 48A (11.5kW) with a qualifying hardwired charger (such as the Tesla or Rivian wall charger).
While the financial report will be in May, they typically report the number of deliveries 1-2 days after the end of the quarter. Hopefully they report a good number next week!
I would pester them about whether the voucher can be used for post-shutdown custom builds. If the answer is no, then the voucher can't be applied to "refresh" builds unless they hit the Shop by Sept. 30.
They said: "The voucher is redeemable in R1 Shop." So might be useable for refreshed builds if they hit the Shop by Sept. 30. I just don't think it's safe to assume that they'll allow the voucher to be used for post refresh custom builds...
I wonder if the changes include finally integrating the LFP pack for the standard battery on the R1 line. That should enable them to drop the R1 starting price even lower. Anything then can do to expand the addressable market before R2, without sacrificing profitability, will be great.
Since the vouchers only apply to shop purchases, I suspect they won't apply to the "refreshed" post-shutdown R1 model. If so, good move to make sure they can continue clearing existing inventory even after the shutdown.
