  1. Dear Rivian Engineers who worked on the Air Conditioning

Yep. This same thing happened to me today, AGAIN. To remedy, I turned off AC for 2 mins, then back on and efficiency increased to 2.14 mi/kwh. I was driving in stop and go traffic no faster than 45 mph, and certainly no launches. LOL. AC never really got cool by the time I got home 15 mins...
  2. Dear Rivian Engineers who worked on the Air Conditioning

Hold down the left or right button on the left side of the steering wheel to toggle thru map, efficiency and tire pressure, which will show on the left side of the Driver display. When you get to efficiency (mi/kwh) turn the AC off for 15 mins and drive a route. Take note of the efficiency in...
  3. Dear Rivian Engineers who worked on the Air Conditioning

Lucky you! Sounds like you got a good AC compressor. Plus the R1T has less cabin volume to cool.
  4. R1S cabin temperature just too hot for Florida

I completely agree on sunroof. Why again is having a glass-covered hole in your vehicle roof a feature? :whew:
  5. 7 major automakers launch EV charging network [Not EA] -- GM, Stellantis, Hyundai, Kia, Honda, BMW, Mercedes

Too bad Stellantis did not forge an agreement with Tesla to use NACS plug. I like the looks of Jeep's future EV offerings. It will limit the number of chargers if they can't use Tesla's SC network. https://electrek.co/2022/09/08/jeep-says-will-launch-4-ev-suvs-2025/ But who knows how long it...
  6. R1S cabin temperature just too hot for Florida

Sorry @strangelove, but that's nothin'. We would love those temps in Phx right now. The AC in my R1S just can't cool the cabin. However, my other cars manage to cool in about 5 mins.
  7. Too Hot to charge in NV, AZ

Yep. 25-29% efficiency is about all solar panels can currently provide. But a quarter acre of solar panels to provide shade for charging and waiting to charge is fine with me!
  8. Lightning is a Better Road Tripper than our Rivian R1T

Thanks for the road trip comparison. Ford has been building trucks for a long time. Fit and finish better be good. We all know that Rivian is still learning how to build trucks and SUVs. In RJ's last interview (that I saw), he indicated how much they've learned on the assembly line. They...
  9. Dear Rivian Engineers who worked on the Air Conditioning

You called and got an appt for Friday?! I used the app a week ago for a few things including AC issue and can't get into the SC until Aug 24th! Did you call the Phx SC directly?
  10. Dear Rivian Engineers who worked on the Air Conditioning

Earlier in this thread @Craigins suggested to turn off the AC for 30 secs, then turn on again to "reset" the weed wacker AC compressor and get it to blow cool-er (not cold) air. That trick works for me, so I am now in the habit of toggling off my AC when I leave the car. Kind of annoying that...
  11. PSA: Please use caution when launching in sport mode

Next headline: Birds are in trouble. Are Rivian owners to blame?
  12. Dear Rivian Engineers who worked on the Air Conditioning

Yes, lots of vibration that correlates with noise. I feel it mainly through the accelerator. Looks like lots of people have this issue with the AC. I think the engineers could do better. They still have the opportunity to re-design it and make a new version that can replace the weed wacker we...
  13. Dear Rivian Engineers who worked on the Air Conditioning

I certainly hope Rivian tested cabin heat, heated seats and battery warming in the extremes of winter (Michigan upper peninsula, for example) and then test the AC, seat cooling and battery cooling in the extreme temps of Phoenix in July and August.
  14. Dear Rivian Engineers who worked on the Air Conditioning

YES! This is exactly my experience. Blows cool air from a 95 degree garage in the morning. But the AC just can't cool the vehicle after it sits in the parking lot in the sun even if I park in partial shade of a tree. My other cars–even the 2014 Model S–don't have a cooling problem.
  15. You're "cool" if you own a Rivian and do this:

It didn't take me long to read the WSJ article.
  16. Dear Rivian Engineers who worked on the Air Conditioning

Thanks. Having lived in Phx for 16 years, I usually vent windows when I enter the vehicle and drive for a block with windows open to replace the super-hot air (125+) with ambient air (110+). I'm not surprised your car cools no problem in the midday CA sun. Phx has a very different climate than...
  17. Dear Rivian Engineers who worked on the Air Conditioning

I tried an experiment today. My efficiency on the way to work was terrible at about 1.75 mi/kwh (25-65 mph, no launches and driving very conservatively in all purpose mode), so I turned off the cool/heat icon so that neither heat nor AC was on (fan remained on, however). After 2-3 mins, I...
  18. Dear Rivian Engineers who worked on the Air Conditioning

Yes, I know to press the cool/heat icon. thanks.
  19. Dear Rivian Engineers who worked on the Air Conditioning

Parking lot temp is 124F in the afternoon in Phx. Probably slightly warmer inside the vehicle, but not much.
  20. Dear Rivian Engineers who worked on the Air Conditioning

Yep, that's a problem. No one should need to fiddle with toggling AC on and off. With a significant number of people having this problem, Rivian either has an AC supplier problem or an engineering/software problem. C'mon Rivian, Please Help Us!
