  1. What did you do TO / WITH your Rivian today? 🧰

Despite the damage, thank you for using the truck as a truck. Hopefully, Rivian will learn from owners' activities.
  2. Navigation / Map updates?

Does anyone know when navigation maps get updated? Looking at satellite view, I think the current map is >4 years old. I work in a building that was finished and occupied 3 years ago. The satellite map shows my location as pre-construction (graded, but no structure) and the building took 1.5...
  3. RJ: Goal is to over deliver on production targets. In final negotiations with Amazon to sell EDVs to other companies

When/if the UPS drivers strike, they should demand Rivian-built delivery vans. I assume they have air conditioning so drivers don't collapse of heatstroke?
  4. R1S - 3 weeks - 1100+ miles - Likes and dislikes

In each of my vehicles I put the auto registration and proof of insurance in a No. 10 regular-sized envelope and put the envelope in the glovebox. Since Rivian doesn't have a glovebox (not sure why), I tried to put the No. 10 envelope in the (micro)cubby below the front seat. Disappointingly...
  5. Improved AC (colder and stronger) after OTA 22.23

Just had Spectra Photo Sync tint installed on every window on my one week old R1S. This stuff is kinda pricey, but absolutely amazing. I have had it on my Model S for 9 years and never needed to use a sunshade for my windshield. I live in Phx so sun shines a lot. Photo Sync tint keeps out...
  6. Reason 1 why not to eat in your R1T or R1S

These are all reasons not to buy a used car. ;) Buyer beware!
  7. Air Conditioning vents

Yes, the only way to adjust the front vents is from the center display. Not sure about stretching the vents to give stronger airflow. I just use the slider on the center display, but cool if that's true!
  8. Air Conditioning vents

I have an early Model S P85 (Feb 2014), so no brake holds at stop lights, rear wheel drive only, no autopilot, etc. However my Model S has been a fantastic car for 9.5 years! I will have to sell it because I have no room in garage for 4 cars. I never supercharged much, but it's of the vintage...
  9. Air Conditioning vents

I will give turning off vent, then on a try, but i am thinking the location of the vents is a design flaw. Hope I’m wrong. I like the R1S otherwise. Very different driving feel and experience than my model S. Not better or worse, just different. And it should be different because it’s a...
  10. Air Conditioning vents

I live in Phoenix, AZ area (Scottsdale) where it's quite warm in the summer. Because car interiors can be hellishly hot, I like the AC to blow on my face when I first get in the vehicle. However, the center vents are low on the dash and I can't get that center vent to blow air high enough so...
  11. Charging from 50amp NEMA 14-50 plug

Thanks for the explanations. Did some research and Emporia seems like a good EV Charger. Going to order it and hard wire it to a 60 amp circuit. Well, an electrician will do the wiring! If I do it I will probably burn my house down.
  12. Charging from 50amp NEMA 14-50 plug

When I plug my Model S into the NEMA 14-50 outlet via NACS connector in my garage, it charges at 25-26 miles per hour. When I use the same NEMA 14-50 outlet to charge my new R1S with Rivian's CCS charging cable that came with the vehicle, it charges at only 12-14 miles per hour. Does anyone...
  13. Pettiest complaint: I hate the turn signals

How many years ago did the auto industry figure out how to do a turn-signal cancel after turning?
  14. 2023.14.0 - Why are trip meters and odometer relocated???

I have to agree. Just picked up my R1S today. Awesome so far. But why hide odometer in layers of settings? RIVIAN: Please put odometer on the driver display screen. thanks
  15. Not allowed to drive R1S before purchase

Yes, I did the first drive. But with the variability in vehicle assembly, I was hoping to drive mine.
  16. Not allowed to drive R1S before purchase

I am scheduled to pick up my R1S on Monday (pre-order Sept 2019), so I asked the Rivian person who texted me that my R1S was almost ready for pickup at the Phoenix Service Center if I could drive the vehicle and do a quick inspection before purchase. He said they don't allow customers to drive...
  17. Considering returning the R1S - questions

I think what NineElectrics meant to indicate is that they have significant experience with multiple EVs and/or cars and they were trying to be objective that the R1S is the first full size SUV in the EV segment.
  18. Road salt and rust on my Texas R1S ... how ?!

    Very nice looking–and functional!
  19. Road salt and rust on my Texas R1S ... how ?!

Yikes. Clearly Rivian is still learning how to (and how not to) build vehicles. This kind of stuff worries me. OTOH, RJ is on record saying that their extended development time (years) was to work through all potential failure points. Anyone on the forums a mechanical engineer? I am not, but...
  20. Rivian executive acknowledges R1S AC noise problem

I live in Phoenix where the temperatures are oven-like most of the summer and into mid-October. If I get my R1S during the heat and it sounds as noisy as the OP's video, I will either refuse delivery or return within 7 day window. Hopefully Rivian AC engineers are meeting with the AC...
