When I see these pics of the MTB's mounted everywhere , except in the bed, I do think the R1T is not the best MTB vehicle (for my needs) - or at least not as good as I thought it would be when I reserved mine 3 years ago. Still early times, but hoping a simpler MTB mounting solution presents...

I was also hoping to use a tailgate pad - but after seeing just how thick the tailgate is, I'm not sure it is going to work all that well without some on-off support for the area under the fork/frame. I hate to have to use a hitch rack when I have a pickup. I do think the R1S will be better...

Seriously nice bikes - and I have the same (very expensive) problem of n+1. I have the same rack, but hope to carry my bikes in the bed of the Rivian. Curious what you keep in the tote? Helmets, gear etc or is that your tool/spares storage?
