  1. Atomic Wheels range tests on AT and Road tires

Given the distance is the same, you simply need to focus on the energy used. The larger tires show 15 and 14kWhr used while the smaller 275/60x20 size show 12kWhr over the same test distance in similar conditions. While not super precise there’s enough of a difference (10-20% less energy) to...
  2. RIVIAN | CARRY US - Short Film Video (Independent Ad)

Works in the context of the 1980s Mad Max styled ApocalypTruck… as in throwing shade at Tesla given theirs struggle offroad and snow. Perhaps only on Mars but hard to prove for another 100yrs unlike their towing a 911 stunt. :sun:.
  3. Who’s using EVgo and why - unreasonably expensive

Yes, with EA I’ll add the Pass+ in advance of a trip. Although, the last time I did I added it as I started an unplanned trip. At my first stop it didn’t give me the discount nor for any of the stops throughout that trip. After a several attempts at contacting support they finally started...
  4. Who’s using EVgo and why - unreasonably expensive

If I would have known ahead of time I was going to pay a total of $60.25 for 47kWhr between the two sessions I would have stopped at an EA. I was anticipating about $0.56/kWhr (afternoon charging stop) and was aware they like charging a session fee. But $2.99 2x for one stop plus the unexpected...
  5. Who’s using EVgo and why - unreasonably expensive

Same here, I wasn’t terribly concerned paying a little more mainly to try them out but the shock was getting hit for >$1.11/kWhr ($40.06 for 31kWhr) for the longer session and then averaging $1.30/kWhr ($20.19 for 15kWhr) for the second session when the first one was interrupted mid stream.
  6. Who’s using EVgo and why - unreasonably expensive

Yeah I think you’re right. I recently came across one that was $0.56kWhr and was surprised but used the Pass+ and it came down to the expected rate.
  7. Who’s using EVgo and why - unreasonably expensive

EA without Pass+ discount at $0.48/kWhr is on the high side. I knew EVgo could be more but not much more. Best rates I’ve seen and paid are as low $0.10/kWhr for a ChargePoint (slowish at 63-85kwWhr speeds) but that’s also one that the last time I visited it’s cords were cut off/stolen. I...
  8. Who’s using EVgo and why - unreasonably expensive

Yeah that’s what I anticipated - about $0.56/kWhr - from having previously checked out an EVGo dispenser and looking on their website. It was a completely unpleasant experience to be robbed. I wish I’d taken a screenshot of the second session that showed $17.20 for 15.6842kWhr + $2.99 session...
  9. Who’s using EVgo and why - unreasonably expensive

By recommending, I mean I don’t have EVgo picked a preferred option in Rivian Nav yet it insists on adding EVgo as a charging waypoint. It clearly has a thing for them over the preferred options and especially considering EA is more prevalent. Why overrule preferred options if not trying to...
  10. Who’s using EVgo and why - unreasonably expensive

Yeah I normally plan ahead but this was more of a regional commute and there’s tons of options around. I was just surprised that Rivian nav kept suggesting EVgo when it’s not one of the selected options I’ve picked in the nav app. I thought I’d give a try. I knew they were pricy from having...
  11. Who’s using EVgo and why - unreasonably expensive

I made a quick 260 mi round trip out last week and had started with about 60% charge (unplanned trip). On the way out Rivian kept recommending EVgo so I decided to give them a try (first time). The dispenser I plugged into had someone else plugged in and wasn’t showing rates. During the session...
  12. Electrical Efficiency (how many miles/kWh are you achieving)

Are you tracking indicated consumption or actual energy used to power? There’s some loss during charging. For example, for a session where the in vehicle Energy app reports 26kWhr put into battery + for temp management and accessories, a charger may actually report 29-30kWhr dispensed. You can...
  13. 6 bikes on an R1T - whats the best way?!

The fittings for the Thule cross bars are the Evo Fixpoint with Kit 187139 (Thule’s custom Rivian mounting bracket to use the Rivian accessory attachment points on roof or bed). Then to have bars across the bed you’ll want to use the ProBar 69” (they make a longer one too). The ProBar is the...
  14. 6 bikes on an R1T - whats the best way?!

Thanks - we really like Limestone on the R1T and with the 22 Brights which definitely round out the more upscale classy look ?. When using cross bars of the bed, you’ll want to consider your bike sizes if you get the upright mounts (keeping front wheels on). Come to think of it I don’t recall...
  15. 6 bikes on an R1T - whats the best way?!

You can easily carry far more than 6 bikes on your R1T. A conservative count is 15 ?. On our XC90T8 we used to carry 6 sometimes 7 bikes between roof mount and extras on hitch mounted racks. We’re a family of 5 and we love riding. As a family we raced cyclocross and track, and our kids also race...
  16. It did alright at -31F!

When the battery is below 50 I’ve seen motors warm up to as high as 220. Not quite as warm as when surging to get ready for DCFC (if the battery is below optimal charging temp). With the new drive mode display the first time heading towards a DCFC the sudden motor temp spike and orange...
  17. Rally mode, gravel lot... Bad ending (tie rod)

I wouldn’t be surprised if Tank Turn makes an appearance via a SW update if MB releases their R1G, I mean EQG with G-Turn enabled. https://apple.news/Autnvm4vlSwW4TXsfiAwqaQ
  18. Bike on hitch rack hitting lift gate (R1S)

For sure. Rivian’s receivers are tucked way under the bumper to be part of the frame and support the high tow ratings. For towing I’d gotten a Gen-Y offset drop which serves as an extender but is primarily to give us other height options based on which trailer we’re towing. It also worked to use...
  19. R1 refresh update coming in 2024 with upgraded “Ascent” trim / model

Perhaps the new trim level will be a Rebelle Rally Edition. It would be a very P-car thing to do to turn a win like this into a trim at a nice premium like the Transiberia Pepper as a way to convert the diehard P-car fans that were appalled by the Pepper or more currently the Dakar 911...
  20. R1 refresh update coming in 2024 with upgraded “Ascent” trim / model

Good to know - would have been concerning if it was needing as much power as indicated and definitely explains premature tire wear some are having. I liked seeing the new conserve doesn’t squat down and turning to tire eating suspension mode. The lowest it got was low at 77mph. I’d been driving...
