  1. Advice: PDM vs Quad Both Gen 1

You said you're interested in efficiency over acceleration, that means DM is the better choice. Why bother with PDM if you don't care about acceleration?
  2. Programmers vs Programs

The real answer is simple. Could software be perfect and have no bugs? Yes, it could. Do companies have infinite money and time to spend making their software perfect? No, they don't. Are software engineers incentivized to make large changes and implement new features quickly more than ensure...
  3. Poll - Waiting too Long for SC Appointments?

How would the wait times not be related to the region? Every service center has different wait times.
  4. Programmers vs Programs

there's no way this community of 75% software engineer members will have strong opinions about this, nope not one bit.
  5. View your own .mp4 videos full screen

I don't think this is new to the latest update. It's just a workaround of gear guard's storage system.
  6. Replace 12V Battery, Car Bricked *Update*

Seems like your 12V battery needs to be replaced, as it may have failed or the vehicle BMS let it discharge too much.
  7. Questions about hard reset

A hard reset (vehicle restart for the purists) is not just a longer time commitment. It's also riskier and adds stress to the low voltage battery system. This is why Rivian explicitly states not to do it more than once in an hour window. You can easily drain your 12V if you do.
  8. Electric Companies - KWH/$ - Powerrrrr not found?

The biggest issue for your longevity over the long run will be getting the battery nice and hot with a DC fast charger, then letting it sit in the garage overnight. These batteries are thermally massive and will easily hold their hot temperatures for 12 hours or more depending on the weather. I...
  9. Electric Companies - KWH/$ - Powerrrrr not found?

While 40kW is frustrating at a DC charger, 40kW would be excessive and require some serious hardware on both your house and the vehicle to support over AC charging. For reference, ignoring all the other issues, a 40kW AC charger would require 167A of constant draw, assuming 240V service. That's...
  10. Electric Companies - KWH/$ - Powerrrrr not found?

One thing to note, OP -- the higher you keep your battery's state of charge, the faster it will degrade. You seem to already know this, but if you can daily charge it's best to limit your charge rate to only be what you need. 70% is a safe limit that will exponentially increase your battery's...
  11. Electric Companies - KWH/$ - Powerrrrr not found?

48A at 240V is 11.5kW but otherwise, yes. 10.8kW is a good charge rate for at-home charging.
  12. Electric Companies - KWH/$ - Powerrrrr not found?

Yeah, the language there is very tricky. Something about a one-time incentive (rebate?) depending on how much off-peak charging you do (usually off-peak is overnight). They're trying to incentivize you to use power when the demand on the grid is low, to avoid them having to generate more power...

Assuming ChargePoint's cost is accurate, that's roughly $0.22 per kWh. That's a fairly low rate, but you should check your service contract to see if there are certain times where that rate is even lower.
  14. Electric Companies - KWH/$ - Powerrrrr not found?

10.88kw is a solid charge rate. That's charging at roughly 45A which is close to the maximum rate a Rivian can charge on AC charging. I'm not familiar with where ChargePoint gets their cost estimate numbers. Your power company has a rate they charge per kWh, and it can change throughout the...
  15. Electric Companies - KWH/$ - Powerrrrr not found?

Welcome to the club! I'm a bit confused by what the problem here is. Are you confused with how to calculate the cost per kWh from your power company? Or confused by how many kWh your charge session has added to your vehicle? To clarify some terms: kilowatt (kW) -- an instantaneous measure of...
  16. Questions about hard reset

Why would you go to hard reset before trying a soft reset? A soft reset (holding the leftmost button and the right most button on the steering wheel at the same time, until the screen resets) affects only the infotainment system which seems to be where your issues reside. Hard resets are much...
  17. Geiger counter rattle sound from B Pillar/rear door.

Wow, should've finished reading the thread before I replied. This sounds exactly like what I have.
  18. Geiger counter rattle sound from B Pillar/rear door.

Tap the headliner between the b pillar and the second row grab handle. In my case, it was the headliner or something immediately behind it causing the rattle. I was able to wedge a piece of foam between the headliner and the glass roof to stop 100% of the rattling.
