R1S is anyone's guess at this point.
If it is going to share a production line with R1T, it will be some time before we see it IMO. Most of the tooling is probably the same, but there will still be learning curves for them to come up and kinks to work out before they transition R1S to full...
Did you mean to say can? I thought we learned earlier that no additional set up was necessary and that they can change colors car to car as it went down the paint line.

The more in the 'wild', the more the general public will become aware of Rivian and increase sales potential such that we don't end up with another Fisker Karma.
Its not my intent to get into an argument. For whatever it is worth, I am one of those 45 million that does both (and a minority where I currently live, fishing is much more common than hunting and I haven't run into more than a handful of people that do both).
I think we are saying the same...
My thinking is that the legacy makers try to reuse what is in their parts bin (part of the issue with the current automotive chip shortage is that they use chips that were designed in the 90s...).
For a clean sheet design, makes more sense in my mind to limit the total number of discrete parts...
!
Believe me, I've considered it!
Will have to wait and see how Rivian impliments it, but I would think the same speaker that does the lock sound also does the low speed sound. Not sure I would want to give that up.
Unlikely that it is a fuse... probably driven directly by a DAC and...
While more pre orders would have been nice, 40k as of September 30th isn't all that bad given the lack of brand recognition. As they start to advertise to the general public and get more cars on the road they should start to see more sales. Think of the Kia brand...really an after thought, if at...
Given the bird chirp sound for locking the doors, I hope the low speed sound is something that is a similar 'natural' sound.
Also, I hope there is a way to disable the sound when on trials. Although, I don't think there is a provision for that in the law.
...for that matter, I wish there is a...
Someone else, either in this thread or another one, was speculating that the San Francisco event would be Nov 15-19 based on the private rental at Sonoma Raceway.

Given that this whole section of the S1 is dedicated to future revenue associated with post initial sales activity, the figure should be the gross cash they expect to get from reselling. The intent of Rivian providing this is to give its investors an idea to its future revenues.
The full...
It'll be interesting to see how they match factory throughput with demand/sales. Just because they can get to X units a month doesn't necessarily mean they would do that if it increases their cost (e.g. the marginal cost for each additional unit should trend down until they have they get to the...
Its a lot of trim pieces and the dash looks like it would be horrendous to remove, but the hobbyist woodworker in me tempted to remove, sand it down, and apply a stain color of my choosing.
The S1 has a much more aggressive schedule for the EDVs, 100,000 over three years (or 4 depending on how you want to interpret their "by 2025" qualifier:
I agree. @80Billion, the near term upside has already been absorbed by those who got in early.
Further context, when Ford IPOed in 1956 they had global sales of 2.5M vehicles, in business for decades, and their market cap, adjusted to today's dollars was 35Billion.
I finished up my DCF analysis...
I believe the 150k is for all vehicles out of Normal given its current footprint (page 82). Anyone's guess to how that is split. We do know that they have at least two final assembly lines as they've said that EDVs are on a different line. We don't know what is shared between the lines (e.g...
While I agree that those are additional revenue streams (some with very high margins) they are small relative to the cash they get per vehicle (I would have to look it up but I want to say it was 1:7 ratio in S1, and that includes people forking over the 10k for full self driving).
Given that...
I concur, they can't think about being cash flow positive from operations until they get to scale with their operations and have sufficient market penetration (X units sold per month). You have to spend money to get to that point.
In reality, 10B really isn't all that much money when they are...
