Yeah- I'm heavily leaning towards buying the 20" atomic wheels with Michelin defenders and selling my 21" set. The cost for 5 with tires would be ~4500, but I'm guessing I can sell the 21's for 1500 or so...
Yeah, I doubt its going to last twice as long.
The weight will wear the tires faster, but from what I've heard, the regen is the main culprit for tire wear as Teslas (and other EVs) also wear tires much faster than their wear rating.
Hmmm- this is super interesting as the stock 21" with tires is 85 lbs. I would argue the stock 21's with aero removed are still likely a bit more aero friendly, but an 15lb rotating mass reduction is a hell of a lot. I bet this setup is as efficient as the 21's, without the crazy expensive...
I wonder if there was a compound change at some point, because there are many folks in both camps. Early on I saw a lot of 21's wearing out early, and mid/later VINs I tend to see people with my story (as long as you're not doing full throttle launches every day). I don't baby the truck, but...
You'll really like the cover. At first I thought I was going function over form because the cover sits ontop of the bed, however it looks great and operates flawlessly. IMHO this is the best cover for the rivian outside a working powered cover. When I took delivery of the truck that wasn't an...
Based on how far that thing sits in the bed when folded in I would say you might have to pull the cover off the bed when flipping that out. When the cover folds all the way in, to pull it off literally takes seconds, there are two ropes that are attached to latches that fit in a channel towards...
I have this as well, very happy with it. Also, I have their bottom level frunk liner as I never really use the frunk "divider thing" I just always have it up. The bottom level frunk liner makes it look much more finished.
Someone more knowledgeable than me can likely answer this better. But lets assume the draw on the space heater is 1500watts (PS this is the max wattage for the Rivian outlets). Thats 1.5 kWh. I'd charge the truck to 90% or so to be safe. That hopefully should be 120 kWh. Thats 80 hours of...
I'm a big proponent of EVs. I'm also a big proponent of hertz- I use it exclusively. 6-10x per year or so, not crazy but not a small amount.
I've never rented an EV at hertz. Charging on business or pleasure is not appealing to me.
I would rent an EV if I wasn't travelling very far from...
Also just a head's up in case it happens to you. I did not get my registration renewal in the mail like normal. I'm guessing it had something to do with the company that Rivian hires to do the reg. I had to contact the DMV during the month of the renewal and they had to prepare the documents...
FWIW, I highly recommend the aftermarket lomax option. Take a look at many of the forums here and you will see the manual tonneau cover has a decent amount of drawbacks from build quality, reliability, durability.
Lomax can be had for $800 shipped, and has none of those drawbacks. Only...
Interesting thread.
I've been very happy with my 21's. Just did another rotation at 20k miles and I'm at 5 or 6/32 all the way around. I'm also not always light footed, but most of those 20k are highway miles. I expect to get at least 30k miles out of the Pirellis, maybe even a bit more...
