I believe the cost and range of these estimates are off quite a bit. I think if this was true they would not get a lot of buyers. I know I would not be a buyer. $55k is the max i would pay for the AWD long range and it would need to do a minimum of 300 miles @70 mph.
I would be quite surprised if they put out 50K in 2026. It takes time to ramp up production. My best guess is they will produce in the 25K to 35K range. The need to take their time ramping up production to make sure everything is operating correctly. It would suck to have something overlooked...
I will by quite surprised if the Tri-motor R2 was above 70K. I expect it to start around 60 to 65K range. 70K is just too huge a jump from the 45K starting price for 2 extra motors.
EV fires are not an issue. They are very rare. In fact I read a recent study that showed that ICE vehicles are 80 times more likely to catch fire than an EV. I remember when everyone was scared of smart phones that had lithium batteries because of a few fires. The issue has been resolved. Now...
I would also point out that the range loss when towing also has a huge drop in range. This also makes 400 miles so much more appealing. I think the R2 is going to be more affordable than either the IX3 or the Volvo. so depending on specs that may be the deciding factor for me. People who can...
I am most excited to buy my first new vehicle in 22 years, and that it will be my first EV. I am even more nervous than I am excited as the nearest Rivian service center is 300 miles away and Rivian does not have a good service or reliability reputation. If I could fine another SUV that was...
It will have a heat pump, but hopefully improved. I hope they add a small electrical element to supplement the heat when temps get below 0 degrees F. They started testing early in Alaska so they should have plenty of time to make it work well in cold temps. If they want to sell this vehicle over...
This is exciting to see. I was just thinking this week there must have been some kind of delay and we would not see The R2 till May of June. I would have thought they would have released more info on the R2 by now. We still do not know so much like Motor HP and torque and efficiency. Batteries...
I wanted my next vehicle to be something smaller and an EV. It needed to be able to tow a decent amount and have good ground clearance. It also needed to be affordable. The R2 fits what I am looking for. I still do not know all the specs on it yet but I suspect it will work perfectly for me. It...
I too expect a Slow ramp from Rivian on the R2. I think I even seen a interview with someone from Rivian that mentioned a slow ramp. I would guess 25K to 30K in 2026 depending on how smooth the ramp up goes. As far as their claim that there is 100's of R2s already built, I do not believe this. I...
I do not think the high number of people holding off for Gen 3 is a bad thing. This will allow Rivian to slowly ramp up production to make sure things are working smoothly and quality is up before going full tilt in 2027. This will also save the compony money as the battery cells they use before...
I had already planned on waiting till 2027 to buy. This would allow Rivian to work some of the bugs out of the new R2. I guess I will be getting Gen3 hardware. I am not that concerned with the Lidar as I do not plan on using any autonomous features. I hope the Gen 3 adds a lot more than just...
It may be possible to use GPS to show speed and calculate the odometer. But GPS is not Available everywhere. If driving in arias that do not work with GPS the speedometer and odometer would be off. I believe most vehicles use wheel rotation calculations to show speed not GPS.
I will get new wheels and tires if I do not like the options Rivian offers. I also may get the vehicle wrapped If they do not offer a color I like or if they charge too much for a color option I like. A blind for the sunroof if one is not offered. I may also build me some sort of range extender...
It also does not make any sense to have 21 or 22 rims as they will be heavier. I am hoping for an 18 inch option. But if it is an expensive option I may just buy aftermarket 18 inch rims.
I would also like to add that the rear accessory ports in the bumper are missing which is another thing different from the original display model. I too had hoped to see the production intent model. This seems to confirm they have ditched the rear accessory ports. that is disappointing.
