Looking at the pics the top of the battery has a cap on it. If it is part of the floor it may be possible to open the top of the battery pack to replace any bad cells if one ever fails. This would make for easy battery repair.

They could put in a simple air bag system in the R2 without adding a lot of cost. It would not need to be such a complex system as the R1. I hope they have it or have it as an option.

I agree with those saying that end of '25 beginning of '26 for ordering. I do expect that more info related to specs will be released this year. I expect something released soon as it is one year after they launched the R2.

Keep in mind that rear leg room is usually measured with the front seat adjusted all the way forward. This being a display model there is a good chance the front seats were moved back to allow people a good view of the front area of the car which is what most people would be looking at.

Also keep in mind that tow capacity includes all payload including passengers in your vehicle. So if the trailer weighs the same as your vehicles max tow capacity you could not safely tow it due to the weight of you your passengers and cargo.

We can only hope. I have my doubts though as the R1S can only tow 7700 for some reason. and the R2 will be like 20-25% smaller. But it is not out of the realm of possibilities as RJ did say its tow capacity would be best in class, and the Jeep grand Cherokee is a similar sized SUV and can tow 6200.

It is almost identical in size to the Ford escape just 3 inches longer. It has significantly more ground clearance than almost anything I have looked at in this size range. It actually has pretty good ground clearance for a SUV this size. It has more ground clearance than a stock F150 and standard jeep Wrangler or Jeep Grand Cherokee. I am sure it is not meant to be an hardcore offroad vehicle. But I am sure you eventually could put a lift on it if you wanted to...

It is nice to see that the rear seats do fold flat and that 95% of people could fit back there for sleeping while camping. I am less disappointed in Rivian for eliminating the front seat fold flat option. I imagine the front seats will fold past 45 degrees for when I have a long piece of cargo.
