Scroll up for more power/torque?! MORE POWER!

Good lord, I wish R2 had "ride height" as pictured in the patent drawings - One of my favorite things about my R1S, but I'm pretty sure the variable height air suspension was the first to go when they were trying to make a more affordable vehicle.
Ride height adjustment and customizable power/torque. Very intriguing...
This is definitely a sign the steering wheel and this functionality will be coming to the R1 line, the question is, is it a Gen 3, or are they going to segment Gen 2 and it's software based on the steering wheel it's equipped with?I'm not a suspension guru, is there a way to allow for suspension height adjustment without an air suspension? Obviously they can still have adaptive dampeners without the complex system from R1, but I can't see how the suspension height would be adjustable without an air system.
Agree. I highly doubt the air suspension is coming to the R2, even as an option. And I hope it doesn't. I think that's my biggest worry with my truck, is that the air suspension is going to fail and cost $$$ to fix out of warranty. This is definitely a sign the steering wheel and this functionality will be coming to the R1 line, the question is, is it a Gen 3, or are they going to segment Gen 2 and it's software based on the steering wheel it's equipped with?
R2 with air suspension I agree makes no sense. I actually appreciate it's somewhat more generic, but given the infotainment preview, it seemingly still has an active suspension system which allows for ride feel adjustments, so not quite driveway mechanic friendly.Agree. A lot easier to take when considering any type of functioning ADAS. . .One of the few (very few) frustrations I have about Rivian is how everything is buried in touchscreen menus. Seems contrary to safety studies that show taking your eyes off the road for a touch screen are a safety hazard. If this design allows largely tactile control of functions that would otherwise be touchscreen based, that's a huge win in my book.
This thread may have provided a clue that the R2 will have an adjustable air suspension option. I hope so!Perhaps an air suspension will be an option on higher price models?
This and the glass top were the two things that gave me pause on my R1. I like the (expected) simplicity of the R2.Agree. I highly doubt the air suspension is coming to the R2, even as an option. There's electromechanical, hydraulic, and you can control damping using valve adjustment or fancy magnetorheological (viscosity of fluid controlled by magnetic field). I doubt any are cheaper than air suspension for adjusting height.I'm not a suspension guru, is there a way to allow for suspension height adjustment without an air suspension? Maybe planning to expand it to R1 in a future model refresh?!?Good lord, I wish R2 had "ride height" as pictured in the patent drawings - One of my favorite things about my R1S, but I'm pretty sure the variable height air suspension was the first to go when they were trying to make a more affordable vehicle.
