Newer Teslas deploy a heat pump system and it certainly doesn't take 5min to warm up. That said, Teslas "heat pump" isn't a single device but a genius system that scavenges lost heat from other components and can even specifically run motors in a lossy state intentionally to create additional...
I like the styling of the R2 but the R3 conjures vibes of the AMC Gremlin for me. Once that image popped into my head, it's all I see whenever I see the R3.
Tesla Model Y. The internal size differences won't vary much between the two vehicles in question for purposes of this conversation. You can store a whole lot of stuff in the frunk, under the rear subfloor and even on the floor in front of the rear seats.
Every new innovation is "niche" until...
A valuable lesson in the simple fact that not every representative of a company knows what they're talking about. Most don't these days and they don't really care either. To avoid confusing others who do care, we'd do better to not present such things as "fact" when the only "confirmation" is...
Who says you have to clear the space to sleep? When we travel, we typically just leave the rear seats folded and the queen-size mattress inflated. We can literally lay down to relax while Supercharging if we want.
We "camp" a ton when we road trip. Our "camping" though is nothing like when we actually go up in the mountains when we're back home to do real camping. These days, we use the Teslas for that too because it eliminates a lot of the negatives mentioned with traditional camping. The bulk of our use...
I meant specifically for auto park. I've owned 7 Model S's now and learned that you park it yourself if you care about the edges of your wheels. Because auto park doesn't.
As I said, it's not about length to sleep so I'm not sure why people keep assuming that's the only reason.
You seem pretty sure it's the DOT that wouldn't allow it. Got a link to some official information about that being the reason it's not happening?
Yep, already was planning a reservation cancellation as soon as I heard about that decision. I'm going to wait until the last minute just to make sure but I hold no real hopes of actually taking delivery of a new R2 now.
I think that the problem is that it's not just the idea of a 6ft tall man being able to fit. In my experience, fitting isn't enough. You need more room. It's also about the fact that it makes reaching the screen and everything else while in the back a breeze.
Speaking of breeze, it also makes...
Not really. We're really pretty bummed by this negative pivot by Rivian. It was one of those things that was an instant fix to many of our problems during our road trips and camp outings. When I first saw that feature, we had just come off of a recent two-week road trip from Colorado to Toronto...
It's only odd if you can't understand why anyone would value a feature that you don't. For our specific use, that one feature would be a game changer. Without that, I'm just not motivated to leave our Teslas.
There's been some interested offerings from other manufacturers lately. Despite the...
Great vehicle or not, we're a single-feature buyer and if they can't deliver on that feature we'll just stick with our Model Y as it does more of the important stuff better. This one feature was for a handful of times a year we go on multi-week road trips and camp outings. That one feature would...
It's been talked about in other R2 threads on this forum over the last month or two, sadly. That was the main reason we were going to migrate to one from a Model Y. If they don't bring that feature back before production though we'll just stick with our Teslas.
Man that thing looks sweet. It's a real shame the fold flat front seats were axed from the plans. I'm bummed that I'm going to be cancelling my reservation rather than ordering.
