Why, every single other automaker resells LTE connectivity with the most basic of functionality? Tesla is the only one that allows you to do other things like games and video.
They didn't say that everyone would unanimously agree it was better, they said they believed their own approach was a better one and they'll stick to it until forced to do otherwise. It's up for the market to decide for themselves. If you don't think it's worth paying for LTE to stream music or...
How would it be more clear than this one?? Those services will no longer be covered by Rivian starting on the dates provided. There is zero ambiguity in that statement. The old deal is scrapped, this is the new deal, that's it.
At most they could do what EA does and charge a nominal membership to get better pricing, but other than that it will be the same as every other charging network. It's pretty simple.
Try simply opening the door and closing it to wake up the truck. My truck will sometimes enter a deep sleep within 30 minutes of getting home, for example, when it was a long drive and it assumes I'm done for awhile.
Yeah, shit happens and life isn't fair. ~$150 isn't worth the energy needed to complain about it. $150 is an afterthought for an individual customer, but is meaningful when multiplied by tens of thousands of vehicles for Rivian. It's a waste of money to give it away for free.
I don't get what the confusion and/or consternation is about this.
Before, they envisioned the Membership to be a bundled service, which would have been unique in the industry. As of now, that only included LTE connectivity and free RAN charging. The email says that they have decided to scrap...
Does it happen after it has been sitting awhile (several hours)?
Mine does this when the vehicle is in a deep sleep. A quick open/close of one of the cabin doors and the capacitive button wakes up. If it was locked, I'd think an unlock from the app would also achieve the same end.
I think the point is that even Normal operating at full capacity is not a "ramp" in the grand scheme of things, i.e. that does not get them to profitability or sustainability. 2026 is the start of R2 in GA, which is akin to Tesla's M3/MY (though is still only another 200k capacity, but that...
They never formally/publicly set a target of 50k for 2022. That was the analyst consensus coming out of the IPO (some higher, some lower). Perhaps that was guided by statements from Rivian behind closed doors during the IPO road show (and/or early comments regarding time to complete Launch...
So a couple things:
The EPA doesn't run tests quickly enough for this to be entirely reflective of the most recent software update. Their VP of Software stated on Reddit chats in August that they had been making incremental improvements to range over the course of several OTAs up to that point...
In the Tidal settings in the Rivian, it allows for 4 levels of streaming quality, with Master as the highest (Normal, High, HiFi, Master; at least with the HiFI+ subscription). I can't say what the available settings would be with only a regular HiFI subscription, but perhaps others can.
I...
It doesn't really apply to a standstill scenario, but remember that they also scavenge heat from the drivetrain, so after a bit of driving it would need to tap the resistive heating less and thus be more efficient. Another reason cold weather efficiency improves with driving (everything warms up...
I doubt they do either, but there is still a clear reason for the +. Regular HiFi taps out at something like 1400kbps, which is less than half of Amazon's Ultra HD (3500), but still better than Spotify Premium (300's). Tidal HiFi+ gets you up to Master quality, which is up to around 9400kbps...
