Solar and wind power are by their nature distributed and resilient. This makes it hard to establish a monopoly (although electric utilities are trying hard to maintain their monopoly on electricity).
This "democratization" of energy will help reduce political power of autocrats by giving...
Or from the air...
The book "Walkaway" is a great read. It describes a future where everything is electric and electricity is abundant. Autonomous machines mine resources from waste and make everything. Everyone has everything they need and nobody has to work.
Of course, there are reactionaries...
The US is in much worse shape with much more debt than China.
The difference is that the US goes into debt to give tax breaks to rich people. China invests in technology and their people.
Which is the better policy?
Since you'll have a Tesla Powerwall, that installation will perform isolation from the grid and switchover during outages.
The question then becomes how to attach the Rivian V2H. It depends on the Rivian V2H system.
If the V2H unit outputs AC 240V split phase (ie standard house power), then you...
Not quite right.
Tesla seems to charge idle fees at all stations regardless of how many stations are occupied.
(Just yesterday I visited several stations with low occupancy and idle fees were in effect.)
Tesla charges idle fees as soon as you try to charge above 80%.
I used to do this on Tesla Chargers as a way to delay the end of charging.
However, just yesterday I was charging at a Tesla station and discovered that they have changed their "idle fee" policy to start idle fees as soon as you are charging over 80%!
So, this trick will no longer work.
My year 2000 LR Discovery has leaked oil since it was new.
I've had the "fix" at the dealer (oil pan, gaskets, etc) twice over the years and my latest independent LR mechanic just says live with it.

I don't use AP or FSD much primarily because of phantom braking. Also random erratic behavior.
I turn AP on occasionally when I am the only one in the car but find it fails within a few minutes.
That's a limitation of the "vision only" system. Radar or Lidar could easily sort out this false positive.
I have a Tesla with FSD capability and have used it during several free trials. It's difficult and tedious to supervise it and it randomly does stupid stuff so I don't use it.
Just shows again that Tesla has a fundamental limit to their FSD by the moronic adherence to Musks doctrine that vision only is sufficient.
The two fanboys saw the obstacle and could have avoided it but they are true believers in the cult of Musk so they trashed their car.
The NY Times had an interesting story. They interviewed people who had purchased used EVs. Some of these were very old Nissan Leaf models with small (and shrinking) batteries.
Everyone was happy with their purchase. They loved the cars and they met their needs.
Most people don't need 400 miles...
