  1. PSA: Careful Parking on ANY Incline...

Interesting that nobody has mentioned these (although someone mentioned using firewood or something like that). IC-10 Ice Wheel Chock, 9-1/4" Height x 8" Width x 10-1/2" Length https://a.co/d/hbhrnms
  2. PSA: Careful Parking on ANY Incline...

I don't totally understand the mechanics here but if the Rivian parking brake is just telling the motors to lock in the rear, could an OTA update make the parking brake to tell the front tires to also lock? Seems like that could help (but not totally prevent) this issue by spreading the job...
  3. [Vote in poll] Turned off LKA (lane keep assist) today, and you should too!

Picked up my truck in San Francisco and while driving across the Bay Bridge the same day, the shadow from the sun shining through the bridge structure “looked like” lane stripes in the middle of the lane. Truck had no idea what to do. Haven’t used it since.
  4. [Vote in poll] Turned off LKA (lane keep assist) today, and you should too!

But if I turn it off, how am I going to do this on the freeway?
  5. VW recalls 21,000 ID4 EVs

https://artifact.news/s/doREuPtMryU= “A potential reset of the battery software could cause a loss of propulsion while driving, which would increase the risk of a crash.” Yikes.
  6. Vampire Drain - 4.57 kWh/day, 8 miles rated range per day

I do think there’s something to this. I have also noticed discrepancies between what’s on the screen in the truck versus what shows up on the phone (e.g. checking in a few hours after departing the cab where mileage/% have gone UP by a few ticks…)
  7. Vampire Drain - 4.57 kWh/day, 8 miles rated range per day

Reno airport, outside, gear guard ON, temps ranging from mid 30s to single digits overnight. Unplugged. Shot below is 3 days, 4 hours later. 10 miles or about 4% loss.
  8. My own MagSafe charging pad with Rivian Logos :) STL attached for 3D print

Next post will surely involve chewed bubblegum.
  9. Thumbs (and paws) up for Orvis Seat Cover

Yep. Foam. I like them and don’t really find the need for extra storage. But ymmv.
  10. Official Rivian Email: A Look Ahead to 2023. Rivian Membership cancelled and unbundled into subscription services

Kind of ambivalent about this. Half the people are mad that they will have to pay for RAN and other half are mad because there are no RAN anywhere to actually use. Ha. Not sure it's a huge benefit to have free charging included when I have to drive 90 miles to use said free charger. Having...
  11. Cabin Heater Impacted Significantly by Outside Temp

What I noticed when I drove from SF to Tahoe, where it was in the low teens earlier this week, is that the cabin temp reading seemed to be roughly correct. I had it set on auto at around 68 degrees. If I surfed up to 70, heat symbol popped up, if I surfed down to 67, I got the snowflake. This...
  12. My (non-hammock) dog back seat plan

Yep, I use them and they are great. Since they are foam they work on both sides (short wife, seat pretty far forward, normal height husband, seat kinda far back). I keep a "waterboy" resting on the top, so both dogs can hydrate when we're on long trips. They sit a bit lower than the seat, so...
  13. Recommend an R1T dog ramp

Thanks. That could work. Will give it a shot. I had a ramp once but was hard to get the angle to work properly (door didn’t open wide enough).
  14. Recommend an R1T dog ramp

Anybody own one that works well for the rear door(s) and perhaps conveniently stows in the gear tunnel? My older dog hates jumping in/out, even in the lowest suspension mode…
  15. Optima Overlanding Rivian R1T build teased for SEMA

What’s in the jerry cans? Gatorade?
  16. Low speed 'Tocking' when stopping or starting

Thought it was worth mentioning in this thread that my tock is gone. I had my mobile recall service on Friday, which took 10 minutes, and drove all weekend tock-free. I haven't seen many reports of disappearing tocks following the recall torque tune, but I don't have it anymore. My tock could...
  17. I'm concerned about the "Heat-soaking sunroof" (MotorTrend's Term) on the R1S. Why no sunshade?

FWIW, this issue has been hotly debated (pun intended) here on the forums. I spent four months in the Tahoe/Reno area this summer and while we don't get the humidity, we do get 100-degree days. The roof never felt like a problem to me, personally. Someone even crawled around with an IR meter...
