  1. Snow tire chain recommendations?

Nah, we were all fleeing forest fire smoke. November is wildfire season now…
  2. Mercedes EQS SUV - A Luxury (Offroad Worthy) SUV

True. The GLS 450 7-seater "starts at $78K" but actually sells for $100K with no rebate…
  3. Snow tire chain recommendations?

I have been driving over the Donner Pass on I-80 for 23 winters in a row and have never once seen this invoked, including the time I was stuck in a line of traffic for more than 12 hours with my dog… I have always crossed in an AWD vehicle (e.g. Audi allroad) with just M+S tires and have always...
  4. Ask us Rivian R1T owners ANYTHING [AMA]!

Question might have been missed (or else I missed the answer) so I'll ask again: how are the Rivian maps/nav? Have you used it to get to the grocery store? So much obsession around here for carplay; kinda wondering whether or not v1 is any good. (Could not test at First Drive event.)
  5. Jul-Sep 2022 Delivery Group (Pre price hike)

Interesting that this group has such a wide span (over a year apart in time order was placed) and it’s the first group where delivery spans more than 2 months. I’m a summer 2020 R1T so maybe I’ll actually get a vehicle but will be interesting to see successful they are at delivering the June/July.
  6. Ask us Rivian R1T owners ANYTHING [AMA]!

How is the nav around town? Did not use it on my test drive. Sorry, don’t you cave people use cases? There’s no camera bump if you use a case. :) Haven’t you heard? It has the fit and finish of a car that costs roughly 20% more than that.
  7. Can a garage floor support 2 Rivians?

If you are parking your cars over an inhabitable space, call a structural engineer. Do not ask the internet.
  8. Can a garage floor support 2 Rivians?

Several (big) SUVs are in the 6,000 lb range and Rivians are just north of 7,000, I think. Not that huge of a gap. And while I’m no structural engineer, I think your slab has to support 1/4 of the weight of each vehicle spread across the contact points of each tire on each vehicle. I’m summary...
  9. Interior color choice - Any non-BM deliveries confirmed?

This all makes a ton of sense. When I think about it, I’ve never seen a grey nor green vegan cow in the wild. Must be pretty rare.
  10. June / July Delivery Thread

Summer 2020 order (can’t remember the month). July/Sept window. R1T, 20”, forest green, ocean coast, off road goodies. Kinda hoping they’ll let me downgrade to the manual tonneau cover even though the powered one is included in my current config. San Francisco delivery.
  11. Rivian Q4 FY2021 Earnings Call 3-10-22

Can’t you just change your Wi-Fi password?
  12. Only 25000 Rivians to be built this year.

Wow. Very disappointing earnings call. They have seemingly **** the bed in every imaginable way. As both a shareholder (LOL) and a pre-order holder, I'm really starting to wonder wtf they are doing. This was most shocking...
  13. My Rivian Blue R1T is Delivered!!

Come on, man. Get that profile bio fixed... :)
  14. How is Rivian going to make up the loss?

Tesla lost money for the first 18 years of existence. They seem to have done ok.
  15. The New Reality - Dual Motor Compared to Lightning

Thanks for putting this together. MSRP seems to be meaningless. Would be interesting to add a row of actual, real-world pricing given the crazy dealer markups. As for Rivian exciting shareholders, they will need to do more than magically create a new edition of truck by describing a dual...
  16. Hello, from a Ford Bronco Reject

All of this is to say that nobody around here knows anything. YMMV. People who reserved 4 years ago are just now getting their trucks. I reserved mine and am scheduled to receive after just two years. One might reasonably assume that they will ramp production going forward and that new order...
  17. Hello, from a Ford Bronco Reject

I would say, very hard to say. Lots of people around here very pissed at Rivian for some of the same you cite (except for valves and dealer markup). We’re at the end (hopefully) of a global pandemic and despite every manufacturer struggling with the same supply chain woes, most people blame the...
  18. In 4th year of waiting ... beginning to question if the wait is worth it

I should also disclose that I have driven an R1T (see profile pic) and absolutely loved it. Haven’t driven anything else. And my delivery could come as early as July, which would be about a 2-year wait. NBD.
  19. In 4th year of waiting ... beginning to question if the wait is worth it

Those may work for some but most don’t for me. Has to have AWD. Must not be a sedan. I’ve owned two Audis and will never own another, especially an electric one. Ditto VW. Hyundai and Kia are not good brand matches for me. Must be able to accommodate two frequently muddy dogs… I’m keeping my...
  20. In 4th year of waiting ... beginning to question if the wait is worth it

Yep, I think I meant more in concept than in actuality. (Which is fitting because most manufacturers just have concept cars today…) There’s just not much out there.
