Mine sucked before the apple key update (and yes, the app was always running). My Gen1 was acceptable though, while Gen2 was absolute garbage before the update. It works flawlessly now with apple key - it's nice that it's finally on par with my Model Y in that the doors just unlock every time.
Never spend your money with an EV or technology company based on future promises. Base what you're willing to spend on what the system currently delivers. You're likely to be disappointed otherwise.
I'm not upset about paying for a good product. The product they're trying to sell here is basically a beta. I wouldn't pay anything for it. They should wait until it's more refined to start charging. Does it not slow down their development to have less folk using it and therefore less data...
Form looks good. FEIN/CAN is going to be N/A for an individual. MSRP should be the amount on the window sticker, but doesn't really matter since the R1S is no where close to 35,000. You've selected the right category - not as crucial since the credit amount is the same for both electric MV...
Gen2 is just buggier (still due to lack of QC IMO). Gen1 misses out on all the flashy new features, but you're locked into a rock solid environment for the most part. Miss that about my Gen1, although I for once, am having no problems with this update. I'm enjoying UHF even if it has a long...
You guys are brave installing a fresh Rivian update right before a road trip. 2,400 miles ahead of me over the next couple of weeks - no way I'm installing any unreviewed update if offered. I'll let someone else find the bugs first.
Agree with all of this. As long as the liability stops with me, eyes off is not something I'd be taking advantage of for extended periods of time. Maybe my feeling will change as the technology evolves, but I personally want some documented skin in the game from the vehicle manufacturer before...
Agree - they were pretty clear (in their round-about Rivian marketing speak way) that eyes off and L4 were not coming to Gen2 R1S. In previous presentations I think RJ did leave his language open to infer that eyes off could come to Gen2 R1S, but it was pretty clear to me from the last week's...
LFP battery should have never been introduced if it can't clearly communicate the range to the customer +/- 20%. - or Rivian should just tell folks never to run it below 20%. I think blaming the customer in this situation is a bit ridiculous. It sounds like a substandard product to me. Hope...
That's how it works for Tesla, so I say 90%+ chance it works that way with Rivian. It's rare for Rivian to deviate from the base path Tesla has blazed - lidar and radar are the biggest examples.
Definitely a wait and see approach for me. I love Tesla FSD, but I'm not going to pay $50 per month to be Rivian's beta tester. It's still unclear to me what they're taking away from what we have if we don't pay. I don't think they should be charging this much until point to point is...
Agree with that piece - I'm all for them taking their time. But it's a let down for investors who have been sold a first half of 2026 launch for years now. Hopefully the cash supply holds out for that.
Nowhere in that does it say R2 is launching 1st half of 2026 (Autonomy plus is though). Still bad news either way. They basically knee-capped their R2 sales until the next gen is out, or it's delayed. Neither is good for stockholders.
