Connecting to wifi definitely triggers it. I park in a garage for high-rise apartment building. No wifi at my space, but they have it at the chargers (for updates). Update came through within 15 minutes of connecting.

It's no different than any other update. They always take a couple of weeks to deploy - it hasn't even been one week. I'm just thankful to own a vehicle that gets substantial updates on a regular basis.
