Honestly I wish I had your “problem”. I’m just over 17k miles and I’ve got super uneven wear on my ATs 6-7/32 in the fronts (when measuring all three points on the tire) 5/32 on the passenger rear and 4/32 on the driver rear. It sounds like I drive pretty similar to you OP but my lifetime...
An excellent point! “Around town” I get approx 1.1-1.3kWh with careful driving. Once I’m on the highway it’s easy to get back into the 1.8-2.0+ range.
I suppose that’s something I’m going to have to factor into my decision. It’s a shame they’re so heavy because they tick all the boxes for me in...
2.26 is a drop in efficiency for you? Impressive! In all my stop & go California traffic I tend to average 1.6-1.8 on the pirellis but can see 2+ on long drives.
Encouraging news though!
May I ask why you’re running the tire pressure so low? (Lack of LT tire knowledge over on my end)
Thank you for posting, honestly these have been top of mind for me as my replacements for the Scorpions but I kept hesitating based on the weight. My daily needs shouldn’t be affected by the range impact but I’m sure I’d notice on long road trips.
It seems though that all the other Pros of the...
Yeah, exactly my understanding (as well as inside experience). I'll try and wait for the Toyos, but I'll likely need to get something else unfortunately before they're easily available. Have a few other choices on my shortlist.
Woof. That's unfortunate. I had an interesting talk with Tire Rack recently too about this tire but when I inquired about usage on my R1T I was told that despite the EV properties of the tire it would not be an approved tire for the Rivian because of the speed rating.
That didn't add up for me.
I would prefer to work with America's Tire (Discount Tire) based on many years of positive experiences but I noticed on Simpletire.com they have the 275/65r20 size available now. Though I was a bit surprised at the cost, unfortunately higher than the stock Pirellis! I wonder if that's just...
Thank you this was helpful! Yeah at most I could see hauling a utility trailer (which I don't own, but if it came up). We haul bikes and camping gear mostly!
I’m just trying to avoid replacing tires every 15-20k miles ultimately. use-case is primarily highway driving, some off roading (more planned) and infrequent (if ever) towing.
The Toyos seemed like the most appealing option coming to market, I just didn’t totally grasp the difference.
I'm curious why one would choose the non-LT version of the tire? I'm still learning as I've never shopped for All Terrain tires before this and only summer max performance tires on past vehicles. But wouldn't the lighter/softer tire be more prone to prematurely wearing out due to the sheer mass...
Yeah I’ve been in touch with Toyo and they said they’ve since released the other sizes, but in talking to local tire shops no one has any inventory or any insight as to when they’ll get some. (This is for the Orange County, CA region).
Running out of time on my stock pirellis lol!
I've contemplated going down a size to 275/60R20 as that seems to be what several folks are doing, but I admit I wanted to keep that slightly larger 34" size that the truck came with.
Are you happy with the overall ride quality at this size, especially the move to the LT weight?
Yeah I tried reaching out to Toyo for more concrete info on the 65s release date and they just directed me to the product page and said they "are" available. When I'd reached out to America's Tire they didn't have any info regarding the tire or when it was coming (in any size mind you).
I'd...
Being in California, I just assume that any time I use a fast-charging station it's going to cost around as much as a tank of gas (assuming 91 Octane prices).
For a "full" charge session, I've never paid less than $40 in California unless it was free. I naively assumed this was normal!
