  2. Mercury Insurance Deductible surprise

Yes, you need weighted plates due to the curb weight of the R1T (7,200). The “default” is 9,000 pounds to accommodate passengers and payload.

  6. Self registration went smoothly

When my R1T was delivered on June 28, it had the standard 90 day Illinois tag. I’d read on this forum about issues with registration taking more than 90 days and asked my guide. He acknowledged that there were issues, and asked if I’d like to self-register. I said yes, and he sent in a ticket to...

My wife (Jan) and lab (Zefram) and I got away for a short trip to the NC mountains. We stuffed the R1T full of camping gear (tent, screen room, camp kitchen, etc.) and headed out from our home at Emerald Isle to a Blue Ridge Parkway campground near Blowing Rock. We drove a total of 732 miles...
  9. North Carolina preorder holders: Guide Contact?

Yes, you need weighted plates. If the GVW is over 7000, you need them. I am transferring weighted plates from the Silverado I sold (to CarMax, better offer than Rivian) to my Rivian. When they delivered my truck last week I was given an NC DMV title application (for the registration, whether...

  11. North Carolina (Raleigh) Rivian Fans

Yes in NC you need weighted plates for anything with a GVW over 7000 pounds, I think. I am transferring plates from a Silverado 1500 which required weighted plates (I have the plate just not the registration cad for it, which FWIW I got the title application notarized and sent to Rivian as...
