My experience mostly differs, but so much of it is driving style and location. I'm on the West Coast where I don't run heat very often in the car and I live in a town where I maintain under 50mph most of the time. My 2014 P85 has a lifetime efficiency of 292Wh/mi, which is better than rated. My...
Between the real estate and the electrical infrastructure, I think you're right. I've been following Tesla's Supercharger buildout for many years and it's a challenge to ensure there is enough electrical capacity in any given location, that the property owner is amenable to the installation of...
Over at TMC, a new Supercharger site was being discussed when one of the members pointed out that in the same lot, there is a Rivian RAN location being built. A permit pull verified this.
Address: 6525 Inyokern Rd.
Stalls: 10 in a row, plus what appears to be a standalone (maybe a towing...
I love the Altos, and think the extra window space is fantastic in the retractable. The aerodynamic benefit is questionable, but considering the extra headspace and the storage abilities, I don't think that's a game changer.
I will be towing my Airstream 22' Sport with my R1T. I've been towing...
That's a ridiculous amount of proprietary charging density in the North Bay, if this is accurate. Corte Madera, Stinson Beach, Muir Beach, Sausalito are all easily covered by existing charging networks, or even a single Rivian location.
My understanding of the Rivian Adventure Network was that...
Brand tribalism certainly exists, and it's probably rooted in some deep seated evolutionary trait. I have a 2014 Model S, and had a 2016 Model X which I replaced with a 2020 Model X. I am a lead moderator at the Tesla Motors Club forum and have participated there for the last 7+ years with over...
I've looked at this a number of times, trying to figure out how to get to Alaska with my Model X and Airstream. It's possible, but only by doing this:

I did a little bit of online permit searching in some of the California locations (Truckee, Tuolumne County, San Francisco, etc) just to see if the ball was rolling anywhere and haven't seen any requested yet. I recognize it's early, but I'm sure there are at least a couple of permits out there...
Dropped is not my look, either. Neither is jacked up, though, especially not on city streets and parking lots. Having an air ride with a significant range should satisfy most buyers and tastes.
As mentioned upthread, it's entirely possible that the air suspension drops at speed, as my Teslas...
You belong to a forum that enjoys seeing Rivians in the wild. Where they may be is unimportant. And for all you know, those two guys might be heading into Whole Foods for some beef tenderloin and local beer.
I think the Tesla charge port style is much simpler, and I'd prefer something like that. But I am glad it's at least automated so that it closes after you unplug. My 2014 Model S doesn't have an auto closing charge port door and it is a little inconvenient.
Those solar canopy charging stations are nice for the shade. The energy they collect is a minuscule fraction of what's needed to charge vehicles under them, though. Tesla has done this in a number of locations, and with batteries it can help with peak shaving, but it's more a marketing gimmick...
Even more direct is this image, which downright says Lone Pine, CA and talks about the charging network:
That said, I have done a few permit searches in Inyo County and haven't found anything with Rivian's name on it. Yet.
Configured.

I wanted the powered tonneau cover, but wanted unperforated seats more, so I'll save the cash.
I worry a bit about ventilated seats with the way I plan to use my truck. The thing is, I want a powered tonneau cover, and that package comes with ventilated seats.
Tesla offered Ultraleather ventilated seats on the Model X as well, before discontinuing them due to wear issues. I had them for...
Update for September 2020. New permits pulled for Conveyor Pits, Framing, North EOL (?) addition, and foundation work.
And the updates on existing permit work:
