I am also at the hip breaking stage of life, so much so that I ride a recumbent. If my bed wasn't going to be full of other gear I would just lay it down back there.

good call on the bed access with the hitch on. I need to play with that and look to see if a drop hitch receiver would help with that.

Has anyone tested bikes over bed vs bikes behind bed on hitch rack? Curious if there is any significant impact on range between the 2 options. This would be on a longer trip where bed is already occupied with other gear.

LOL - yup order some 2 lbs mags form K&J Surface cleanliness was not the issue - the 3m tape was still stuck to the truck and the magnet - it just ripped in half the length of the tape strip...

So I gave this a go - I don't use amazon so I sourced from K&J and the ones I got must be extra strong cause they were fine when I first installed them, but after a day I went back out to see how they were holding up and the one side tore itself off the 3m tape (literally ripped the tape in half...

not here - it pops maybe 1/4 to 1/2 inch tops...

this is great - gonna see if it can help with the storage/spare tire area cover in the R1T bed. my fingers do not fit in there at all and have to use a trim tool to open it...
