I've read a lot of mixed responses on the material used in this area of the vehicle all over forums, some say steel, some aluminum. I was told this panel is an aluminum alloy, which is probably why it has magnetic attraction, but i really dont know anything about this stuff.
my understanding is the work is easier but just as time consuming and there's no guarantee that it comes out perfect, so they rather replace panels when parts are aluminum, it also depends on the composition of the aluminum.
its not my insurance paying for it, so price doesnt matter to me, also it is the collision center that my local Service center uses so i rather it be expensive and done right rather than being cheap and who knows how it comes out, also they have already done this repair multiple times on R1's. I...
everyone including the collision center told me the same about. state farm. I'm hoping it is going to be a smooth process, but i already have a feeling this may drag on since state farm has yet to come up with their estimate, its been already a week, and still nothing.
I have not confirmed exactly what the plan is, I was told by person who i was dealing with (he is the only guy there who deals with Rivians) that this would be the third one they have done the same repair on and he showed me one that had just came back from detailing. I gotta say it looked like...
Ultimately i think Rivian had a choice, easier and faster manufacturing or easier repairability. I think they chose right as they are in the ramping phase, i would think maybe by some time next year they make the adjustments to the panel construction to ease and cheapen the repairability of the...
I have geico and pay $ 180 a month in south FL, Miami-Dade county to be exact. Rivian's insurance is a bit more, and i wanted to go with it, but they advised me to wait maybe a year as Nationwide has relatively no customers in south FL and thats why they arent as competitive down here yet.
Neighbor was backing out of his driveway and was trying to avoid hitting garbage and recycling bins, he said he thought he had enough space and backed right into the corner. I dont think he checked the other side when he was backing up.
as far as Rivian, they didnt say anything about it being...
no damage to tailgate, the corner tail light got a scratch so they are replacing it, Rivian wants $499 for the corner tail light, and $1,875 for the side panel, most of the cost is really labor.
9/6/22 : 4 months of trying my hardest to protect my vehicle from crazy south florida drivers and in my own driveway is where i end up getting hit. so let's find out how good the Rivian certified collision centers are.
update 9/7/22 : Spoke with State farm (other guys insurance, the...
I do not, I was told by the tech that came to me for a mobile repair, he said he will be based out of that location. tomorrow i will go by and see if its open.
I had a mobile repair done recently, I asked the tech how he likes working on the R1's, he said he loves them, super easy, much easier than working on tesla's (he was a tesla tech for 6 years). the only downside he said was doing alignments, he said it was a pain, due to the weight of the trucks.
Looks like the Miami SC is almost ready to open, looks like some inside work still going on, but i didnt see any more construction workers or equipment around, looks like maybe just some installation work left, the sign, the chargers, all outside work is done.
correct, i went with supports and I usually prefer to go low infill, and add extra base and top layers to keep smooth as possible, seems pretty solid and slides smoothly. putting it in or taking it out has a little bit of resistance but its working out great so far. i took me 3 tries to ge the...
I wanted somewhere to keep a pen some business cards and some coins, so i 3d printed a small organizer that i can slide front to back and easily remove if i have to put something bigger in.
