Man if only there was some way that we could choose our own mapping solution that might have more accurate map data and ways to easily report map issues. Wouldn't that be sweet?
They seem to never use the feature flags for end users and instead ship new capabilities only with updates but I modded the APK to give them all to me.
The below is from a modded version of the Android app that has all the hidden features enabled.
Yeah hasn't resulted in earlier update last build or this one. The plumbing is all there on the app side. They just need to use it on the truck update targeting side.
I inquired with support about buying the Rivian OEM jack puck (PT00325774-A). They said it's not currently available for purchase but would be coming to the gear shop soon. I indicated that I messed mine up when using it (partially true, it doesn't seem the best made) and they inquired with the...
Went on a weekend trip and my wife wanted to stay at a hotel that was valet only. Wanted to take the Rivian and really dreaded the prospect of valet. They said (on the phone) that they'd charge it for me. Ended up staying elsewhere and saving $200/night and didn't have to valet. Win/win...
Mine too. It was a little clunky to start but has broken in and sounds fine now. I'll likely get rivian to do the fix at some point as long as it's not a downgrade in some way but will be in no rush to do so.
I've had my R1T since June and love it.
Has everything been perfect? No. Most of my issues have been very minor. My biggest issue has really been with the service processes. There's a bit of a disconnect between the call center and tech doing the work and the customer. It seems things have a...
I had an epiphany recently and posted this in another thread but since this has become the AA/CP debate thread du jour and no one has pointed out a flaw in it... the problem is Amazon/Alexa. People using AA/CP would then be using Google/Siri and not Alexa. Amazon has had many a pissing match...
I don't think it's telemetry data. They can collect that regardless of what nav app you're using. Maybe they want to add ads (like waze does). More likely it's Alexa's fault.
[preemptive caveat... a lot of this is based on digging and reverse engineering and not "official"]
I highly doubt it. Rivian infotainment is using an open source fork of Android Automotive. You might say well then why can't they just toss the Waze APK on there and call it a day.... Licensing...
I really like the powered tonneau and glad mine has it. It's such a cool feature and mine is working better than ever. It used to clunk and crunch when it closed but either the graphite lube or it all breaking in has made it sound a lot better. It's a warranty component. If you bought a used...
The Rivian app uses graphql APIs to make it's calls but any command sent to the truck has to be signed by the private key used in the phone-as-key registration. It's possible but not easy.
I just don't understand why someone can't make jack pucks out of a cheaper material for a cheaper cost. Nothing against this product in particular but all of the existing options seem like fashion pieces and not simple, functional hunks of urethane or something. I can get 4 tesla pucks for $20...
Yeah mine works fine though I don't use it a ton, somewhat out of fear. I had a tech come early on because it was clunky and he encouraged me to just use it as if it didn't break it would likely break in and work better. It's definitely smoother now than when I got the truck. ?
When has Mercedes taken an existing feature and decreased/removed it without making it very clear in advance?
Rivian reversed that decision merely because they did not want the negative blowback. They were under no legal obligation to do so. Rivian would have a class action suit filed against...
Other than Rivian being bad at dates, what's the reasoning? They've probably been working on this for almost a year. Depending on what the fix is it may not be that hard to develop and manufacture.
