Our First RAN, San Antonio TX (not trailer friendly, but we arrived early)
  2. First 1800 Miles Towing Airstream with R1T

Durango CO to Ocean Springs, MS and now returning west to Big Bend NP. We’re 1800 miles into this planned 5000 mile winter trip, towing our 28’ Airstream (7500 lbs) and the experience has been great. Our dual motor performance max pack R1T has performed flawlessly. It is a smoother, more...
  3. DIY Manual Tonneau

The three 1/2ā€ panels from BoatOutfitters.com came to $215, (but I also paid expedited shipping of $135 due to my urgency) the 1/2ā€ aluminum C channel from Home Depot about $50 (a good bit left over), and a pack of screws maybe $5. 1800 mi into this trip, and still very satisfied!
  4. RAN chargers being installed in San Antonio Texas @ The Shops at La Cantera

I passed through on Christmas Eve. Fine installation, but not very trailer friendly. Glad that we were there before the shops opened!
  5. DIY Manual Tonneau

I grew impatient with delays on my manual tonneau. With a long trip approaching, I took matters in hand, built my own and requested a refund on my order. The project was very easy. I ordered three panels of 1/2ā€œ STARLITE (HDPE BOARD) from BoatOutfitters.com precisely pre-cut to fit the...
  6. What fits in gear tunnel?

The tunnel doors would only be open during attended use. I don’t have a tonneau, as Rivian has suspended shipments of the manual tonneau which I had ordered.
  7. What fits in gear tunnel?

I carry an Ecoflow Delta Max power station with two companion smart batteries as auxiliary power for our Airstream travel trailer. (This setup could also serve tent campers). These three units were previously housed under our RAM 2500 truck cap. They now fit perfectly in the gear tunnel of our...
  8. 12V Power for Dash RV Backup Monitor?

Thanks, all. I used a 120v to 12v adapter that I happend to have on hand. Plugged into the 120v outlet beneath the rear seat control screen. This works, although I'm not keen on the lead dangling down my dash. Have to work on that.
  9. 12V Power for Dash RV Backup Monitor?

I’m seeking a solution for 12v power on the dash of my new R1T. This is to power a Furrion Vision S monitor for the rear camera on my travel trailer. I find no 12v outlets, only USB C sockets on the front seatbacks. Perhaps someone has found a solution for this?
  10. ABRP Can’t Calculate Route?

I have been trying ABRP to plan a long upcoming trip, and I can’t find any reason to continue to bother with it. Compared to inRoute, a very capable routing app which I’ve used for many years, ABRP is incredibly limited, inaccurate and unreliable. With inRoute I can easily select my waypoints...
  11. Lightning Bolt Disappeared with Software Update

Aye, we are still Streaming! We traded the FC23FB for a FC28RBQ a few years ago. Toured BC, Yukon, and Alaska with it this summer.
  12. Denver to Durango through snow in new R1T with stock 21” Scorpion tires (maiden delivery voyage)

Well, the young lady, didn’t really cover the driving modes. My truck had not been updated to the latest software, which presents the drive modes much better. I simply had it in Normal, and it performed better than any truck I’ve ever driven. I do have a lot of experience driving in snow and...
  13. Denver to Durango through snow in new R1T with stock 21” Scorpion tires (maiden delivery voyage)

No a SeaGeo, I didn’t capture much data, driving a new vehicle solo, but it appears that I averaged 2 mi/kWh. This at ambient temps in the mid teens through a good bit of snow and slush and mountain passes. My truck didn’t have the latest software, and I just left it in ā€˜Normal’ drive mode...
  14. Lightning Bolt Disappeared with Software Update

My R1T had not received the software update when I took delivery on 12/1 . Now I’ve updated, and the LIGHTNING BOLT which brought up the ENERGY screen has disappeared. Can someone please enlighten me as to how to access charging controls?
  15. Denver to Durango through snow in new R1T with stock 21” Scorpion tires (maiden delivery voyage)

No argument, I’ll buy Michelin Defenders when they cme a I do prefer winter tires for our area of CO. Our Polestar 2 wears Michelin Ice X during winter, which are superb. I run Michelin Defender M&S on my RAM 2500 Cummins, which do quite well in winter and stay on year round. I look forward...
  16. Denver to Durango through snow in new R1T with stock 21” Scorpion tires (maiden delivery voyage)

I did not use chains, and did not pay much attention to consumption data on this trip. Honestly, after a barely 30 min. orientation (I suspect the young lady was cold, standing outside in the wind. Surely Rivian should do this orientation in an enclosed space during winter in Denver!), I was...
  17. Denver to Durango through snow in new R1T with stock 21” Scorpion tires (maiden delivery voyage)

I picked up my new Dual Motor Max Pack Performance R1T with 21ā€ road wheels at the Denver Service Center yesterday. I also picked up a barely used 21ā€ spare from an owner near Denver. I had worried a bit about the Scorpion tires in ice and snow, and am happy to say that the truck and tires...
  18. Solar charging while camping? "thoughts"

There is potential for very limited vehicle solar charging in the right solar situation. As an example, I carry an Ecoflow Delta Max with two smart batteries (6 kWh total storage) in my ICE truck (RAM 2500). 320 W of solar on the truck cap (two thin film panels, no wind resistance) charge the...
