They have stated that the decoupling will happen, but it will be front motor not rear. So, the R2 will be RWD bias. This will improve so much about driving dynamics.
I am 6’1” and can confirm that the space is identical to the R1S in the front and back. Had the chance to sit behind my driving position and was surprised at how roomy it is. The cars width is smaller though. Very impressive the packaging that Rivian came up with.
They will build 1 day production per color then put in store. This will be the fastest way to deliver. Then once they see the distribution they will produce based on stock. My guess is for all that selected Yes for LE they will next ask preferred color. I am a current R1 owner with deposit in...
I own 2 Rivian's now and Plan to add 2 R2's. I have had much better service experience than I ever did from Tesla. While I think this is market dependent. I live in So. Cal and have 3 SC very close to me. But these are the markets where the R2 will sell like hotcakes.
This is a Huge deal! the quality of the materials is on another level compared to the Model Y and others in this class. Also, Rivian's decision to style like a traditional box design is not new but unique for an EV. It was very interesting to hear that the majority of the people attending did...
I don't know if many saw it but the standard black interior vs signature is a big difference. Standard has the following differences:
No wood on dash.
Light headliner
black stitching vs Brown / grey on the seating.
If you are serious about buying a launch model you will find a way to go see one if that's important to you. I saw the launch in Laguna then when they had them on display and now will go up to Venice, like I did for my R1 drive.
Nothing, replacement 1 was due to software conditions of 12v this is the campaign Rivian had. Then my current one “the replacement” I have no clue. Drive the truck all the time. I suspect it’s related to them not calibrating the replacement battery. I learned that if they don’t calibrate the car...
Ridiculous that I will be on my 3rd battery in 2.5 years. Seems that everyone who has had battery replacement keep needing them replaced. Seems like a defect to me. The car has 40k miles on it so it is 100% driven.
I just got the red triangle. They proactively replaced mine Jan of 2025 and now that replaced one has failed. Rivian says system is normal. I will have had 3 batteries in my R1 in less than 3 years, seems like a design or function problem. BTW apparently the proactive replacement does not get...
BMW will have a model in every class that is full EV. Next is the X5 then the X7 each sedan will also get updated over the 3 years. The iX7 will crush this segment, perfect timing to replace my current x7
L3 will be hands off eyes on point to point (launch R2 and R1's capable). L4 will require LiDAR. RJ has stated in many interviews that L4 PTP no driver is very far down the road. Over 5 years out.
Rivian has already said what the R2 without LiDAR can do, it is L3 hands off point to point driving. The only added benefit of the LiDAR will be eventually hands off eyes off point to point. Don't expect the L4 function any time soon...
Contrary to what you wrote:
1. Air suspension leaks → truck collapses or sags
Most common serious failure.
What fails
Air springs (air bags)
Air lines
valves/regulators
compressor overheating
Almost all failure reported have been related to air suspension. Just search this forum.
From my understanding eyes off hands off would not be covered by your auto insurance. True level 4 will be a challenge to insure. Only one car company today has level 4 and it’s MB on limited roads. When the car is in FSD it is covered by MB liability insurance.
also what has been described as...
