I have a good screen for the front windshield but any more than that is just a PITA when the car could easily take care of it. And anyone who lives here automatically is drawn to any nearby shade, on foot in a vehicle, whatever. This instinct becomes ingrained and operates at all times and places.
More like a dry sauna. Even in the July monsoon season the humidity doesn't get above 40% or so unless it's during an actual downpour. In May or June it's likely 5%.
It's ME that needs to be babied. I do not want to climb in from a 105 degree outside to a 135 degree interior thank you. 95 is tolerable, 135 is not. I want to be able to touch the steering wheel.
Uh, no, lots of cars have had tilting mirrors for a while now. I actually hate the tilting, I always turn it off in my rental cars. My R1S does some things better than my Y. The Y does some things better, like geofenced operation of the garage door. But Tesla made me pay about $300 for the...
One thing I really liked about my model Y (not Elon) was that the cabin temp was always (while battery was above 20%) kept below a threshold when parked. I understand this was because high temps would harm the screen. The threshold could be set to 95, 100 or 105. Since I live in Tucson AZ this...
I used to have some POE switches. What PITA. Lots of expense for very narrow use cases. They were handy for voice phones, but those are all land fill now.
This isn't EV related, but I am really glad I did this in our major remodel. First, spend some money on a lighting designer if you can. Then use smart dimmers for all your light switches. I kind of dismissed voice control for the house for a long time but now that we have smart switches almost...
I don't know why people keep doing this. There are very limited places where you need hard wiring anymore. A mesh network can give you gigabyte speeds everywhere in the house. Bring your cable connection to a AV closet and put your main router there. Most of your AV electronics stays out of...
I am right now on my first road trip with the R1S. My first encounter with CCS was a near disaster. I tried for 20+ minutes to get connected and charging at the Deming NM EA station. I only got it working by calling their help number and they were able to start it. Of the dozen or CCS connectors...
Picked up my Dial Max yesterday. I had the Rivian app on my phone and when I pulled up to the service center in Phoenix, the Silver R1S in front of me opened its door handles. Well, I guess that's mine! I stepped out of the Uber and snapped this picture. Had a very pleasant drive home to Tucson.
As it happens I got a text while golfing yesterday. My R1S can be picked up Dec 30 in Phoenix. My build is very straightforward, Dual Max Silver with Ocean Coast. I think it will be about 5 weeks from Order to delivery.
I ordered an R1S Dual Max about 10 days ago and there is no word other than Configuration Confirmed. It still says delivery January-February. When will I get more information? What's the usual time line?

Ordered an R1S Dual Max this morning to replace my Y. Driving an Elon just doesn't feel right. And the increase in my crypto account will just about pay for the R1S.
Boy this looks like such a dog of a car. I'm 75 and would not buy this thing cuz it would make me look even older.
No frunk? And really, who makes a car in 2025 in North America with a CCS plug?
And no option for a white exterior!!! I live in AZ, only crazy people have dark colored cars.
