  1. Poughkeepsie Gulch, Hurricane Pass, and Corkscrew Gulch

Well I saved the best for last. On our last off roading day we tried these difficult routes. They are indeed just that. Especially after a morning at Mineral Creek. Did we conquer the Wall? Nope, the ground was too wet to get good traction. I did make it up the Gaunlet just before the...
  2. Mineral Creek Trail - Ouray, CO 9/26

If you think that cliff is bad, try Imogene with a 20% hill and 20% off camber! On a rock surface!
  3. Mineral Creek Trail - Ouray, CO 9/26

We tried it …a bit. Video later post. Need perfect dry conditions on that thing. Didn’t happen when were there. By-pass road is also bad! Not as bad!
  4. Mineral Creek Trail - Ouray, CO 9/26

Poughkeepsie and Corkscrew are next after this :) The definitive 4x4 Co 4x4 book calls Mineral Creek and Poughkeepsie Gulch at ā€˜difficult’ - their top designation.
  5. Mineral Creek Trail - Ouray, CO 9/26

I did go with a very expƩrienced friend and 6 inch lifted, on 37 inch tires, and winch! on a Silverado. You need buddies and spotters on these roads!
  6. Mineral Creek Trail - Ouray, CO 9/26

Well the roads got a lot worse on this day. Doesn’t show it well on this images but this is more difficult trail than most. And course on the cliff portion we ran into two less seasoned off road drivers from Texas - no comments from me :) At the end of this part the ā€˜road’ gets much worse to...
  7. Gallup NM RAN operational? Can someone check

I was just close to there but didn’t visit. But RAN map shows it operational. I did just use the Green River RAN. There are 16 stalls!!! What? How come so many? good to see though
  8. 2026 R2 spotted with roll-down rear window! (Aug 7) šŸ“ø

You might notice there appears to be another camoed one inside on the second pic
  9. 2026 R2 spotted with roll-down rear window! (Aug 7) šŸ“ø

I live a mile away. Know where it is :). That same camper R2 has been seen several times, once by me. Didn’t see the rear window down though. Nice catch by OP
  10. 2026 R2 spotted with roll-down rear window! (Aug 7) šŸ“ø

That looks like the Irvine, CA prototype center
  11. Check out the updated RAN map at the Rivian website!

Utah Rivian current and future owners will be agog! While I don’t understand why the operational RAN station in Durango CO isn’t listed on the map - even as an upcoming location - but is listed in the vehicle and phone app map, I just looked carefully at the website map! Holy smokes there are...
  12. New RAN in Durango

Great news! I’ll be there in September. Really weird that Rivian wouldn’t put it on the official map!
  13. New RAN in Durango

Strange how the official RAN shows nothing there! They are working on one in Gallup. Both helpful fir my late September trip off-roading in Ouray!
  14. R2 spotted in the wild (video)!

That’s the 261 tollway near Irvine. I’ll look out for it since I drive those roads!
  15. R2 real-world validation begins! Prototypes will wear unique wraps

I wonder where they will be located. I’m next to the Irvine HQ. I’ll keep an eye out! If I find one, I’ll track it down for pics! More likely in Death Valley for heat testing!
  16. Off-roading with LT275/50R-22 BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A KO3 E?

I guess I’m used to great groups of Jeeps on a trail and one person brings one and everyone uses it. The end if the trip ā€˜party’. Yes you can wire to your car 12v battery all you want for one vehicle.
  17. Off-roading with LT275/50R-22 BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A KO3 E?

One cool thing about the Rivian fur off-roading is the built in compressor. I just deflate to 30-35 have done fun then re inflate quickly back to 48 for the highway. Can’t do that in a Jeep without hauling a compressor and genset!
  18. Off-roading with LT275/50R-22 BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A KO3 E?

I went to Americas Tire. They are allied in some way with Rivian, at least here in SoCal. Try their advice. I bought my K02s and wheels there. I switch out between OEM wheels and Michelins LTs for normal driving and 20 inch offriad wheels and k02. Since I bought most of these from them they...
  19. Off-roading with LT275/50R-22 BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A KO3 E?

If you want to do some serious off-roading you go with a smaller wheel where your tire can have a much higher tread wall. You can also deflate the tire more with a thicker tire. But most off roading on a dirt road should be fine with 22s.
  20. Off-roading with LT275/50R-22 BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A KO3 E?

I have K02s on 20 inch wheels. Plenty of space for almost all off roading in the high position. Don’t try with low! Why did you get 22s for off roading?
