Well I saved the best for last. On our last off roading day we tried these difficult routes. They are indeed just that. Especially after a morning at Mineral Creek.
Did we conquer the Wall? Nope, the ground was too wet to get good traction. I did make it up the Gaunlet just before the...
We tried it ā¦a bit. Video later post. Need perfect dry conditions on that thing. Didnāt happen when were there. By-pass road is also bad! Not as bad!
Poughkeepsie and Corkscrew are next after this :) The definitive 4x4 Co 4x4 book calls Mineral Creek and Poughkeepsie Gulch at ādifficultā - their top designation.
Well the roads got a lot worse on this day. Doesnāt show it well on this images but this is more difficult trail than most. And course on the cliff portion we ran into two less seasoned off road drivers from Texas - no comments from me :)
At the end of this part the āroadā gets much worse to...
I was just close to there but didnāt visit. But RAN map shows it operational.
I did just use the Green River RAN. There are 16 stalls!!! What? How come so many?
good to see though
I live a mile away. Know where it is :). That same camper R2 has been seen several times, once by me. Didnāt see the rear window down though. Nice catch by OP
Utah Rivian current and future owners will be agog!
While I donāt understand why the operational RAN station in Durango CO isnāt listed on the map - even as an upcoming location - but is listed in the vehicle and phone app map, I just looked carefully at the website map!
Holy smokes there are...
I wonder where they will be located. Iām next to the Irvine HQ. Iāll keep an eye out! If I find one, Iāll track it down for pics!
More likely in Death Valley for heat testing!
I guess Iām used to great groups of Jeeps on a trail and one person brings one and everyone uses it. The end if the trip āpartyā. Yes you can wire to your car 12v battery all you want for one vehicle.
One cool thing about the Rivian fur off-roading is the built in compressor. I just deflate to 30-35 have done fun then re inflate quickly back to 48 for the highway. Canāt do that in a Jeep without hauling a compressor and genset!
I went to Americas Tire. They are allied in some way with Rivian, at least here in SoCal. Try their advice. I bought my K02s and wheels there. I switch out between OEM wheels and Michelins LTs for normal driving and 20 inch offriad wheels and k02. Since I bought most of these from them they...
If you want to do some serious off-roading you go with a smaller wheel where your tire can have a much higher tread wall. You can also deflate the tire more with a thicker tire. But most off roading on a dirt road should be fine with 22s.
I have K02s on 20 inch wheels. Plenty of space for almost all off roading in the high position. Donāt try with low! Why did you get 22s for off roading?
