New RAN in Durango

Yep, the pedestals are still wearing white plastic, but standing tall in the parking lot of the new (not yet open) REI in Durango CO. Not that I’ll have need, with home charging, but I’m happy to see this installation. No food within walking, but I trust that REI will allow bathroom usage.

This will be a nice location. The REI is at 40 Turner Dr, just off of Hwy 550. The local paper reports the grand opening of the REI has been delayed until "the summer of 2025," so it should be soon.
I will be driving through there at the end of July and look forward to stopping.
I hope this isn't another $0.60 /kWh RAN, but in that part of the Rockies, you take what you can get.

Dang, you beat me to it. Took pictures of the chargers at the Durango REI site yesterday. 1 pull through, 1 Handicap, and 6 others.

Great to see a RAN and REI in Durango. Fast DC charging in this neck of the woods is hard to find. Some chargepoint co-branded with LPEA, perhaps other COOPS in SW will realize it is a revenue opportunity.

Strange how the official RAN shows nothing there! They are working on one in Gallup. Both helpful fir my late September trip off-roading in Ouray!

There are two 200kW DC chargers at Purgatory in their parking lot for $0.30/kW. A bit better value than charging in Durango if you are going through that way anyway.

I drove by on Friday, and there were a lot of what looked like employee cars in the parking lot. I'm guessing they are in training and or stocking. Chargers still covered. The opening was pushed to late SUmmer from late spring a few months ago. There are Chargepoint DCFCs at the Durango transit center and the Blue Oval DCFCs at the Ford dealer here in Durango. You can use the Shell smartphone app to start a charging session at the Ford chargers. You can also park on the road next to the DCFCs at the Ford dealer if you are towing a trailer, since it has a long cable.

I will feel more comfortable traveling through Durango with a RAN there.

The Durango Transit Center will still be my first choice because it's a nice location near downtown, and more importantly, $0.33/kWh.
