“It was probably adequate when they initially were targeting 400A charging, but when they OTA'd it to 500A, we started seeing the thermal overloading.” And it was marginally adequate when they did little max pack (We had multiple dc charging overheats with our 2024 R1s dual Max on cross country trips). My assumption is thermals was why they couldn’t deliver the original 180kwh Maxpack. Rivian has made their bet that skipping 800v this time will be fine for a large number of potential buyers. Time will tell.
