I'd go clear. That's what we did on our Storm Blue.

We have dash cams in both our G2 R1S and Sierra EV. Both are powered 24/7. The R1S is through the OBD II port and the Sierra is through an always hot fuse tap. Neither have created any 12v issues in the several months they have been installed.

I agree if the wire is 6ga you can switch to a 60a breaker depending on the length of the run. Our Eaton 60a breakers are under $20 IIRC.

LiFeP04 is my choice for every application except an EV that road trips. If all you do is commute the standard pack is a no brainer.

Rivian needs to walk a fine line on these out of warranty costs. Our R1S is the most expensive vehicle we've ever purchased by far. We justified the purchase on keeping it for ten years. If it cost us a fortune to maintain it out of warranty, we'll look elsewhere come replacement time.

Ha I agree the Silverado EV is goofy looking. We have the Sierra AT4 which is much better looking IMHO. Received a complement today that it was a great looking truck. That was from the dog walker at the old folk's home so she obviously has taste :CWL:

When we bought our Tri in Jan of 2025 it was approx 6k more than than the DMP equipped the same. I'm fairly confident it will bring more than 6k in resale vs a DMP and we get to enjoy the Ascend interior.
