I did two tests (not very comprehensive). Both were relatively short. I didn't have a temp sensor but both times the adapter was cool to the touch. I didn't have time to drive around to get my battery to a lower state of charge for more ideal testing.

you are right, the Midwest fast charging infrastructure is awful. Wisconsin in particular is poor. One nice thing about Rivian is relatively long range. But the truth is access to the super chargers can’t come fast enough for the Midwest.
If you can't find someone closer, there is a chance I can be persuaded to drive from S.E. Wisconsin. I've been looking for an excuse to visit North West Wisconsin. Although the non-tesla charging network is very rough up there right now.
I drive an R1T and it's a great vehicle. However, it can be rather high off the ground (which may or may not present a challenge for you). I'd recommend that you go for a test drive and as long as you don't have any issues getting in and out of the vehicle, the R1S is great. It's very spacious...
I should note, I wasn’t going to charge. I would just send you one. It’s a very fast print and doesn’t use much material. It takes less than an hour to print. It also works really well. Kudos to the designer.
My experience with the schedule preconditioning is inconsistent at best. Hopefully they fix the bugs in the next release. It’s great when it works, it just doesn’t always work.
