People say that the good thing about installing a NEMA 14-50 is that you can unplug and take your EVSE with you. But I don’t see where I would use it since the public chargers all have their own plugs already. Where would I ever need my mobile one?
So people generally agree that the ability to plug and unplug is better than 60 amp hardwire? I don't really get the unplug part, I would probably always leave the 14-50 plug in.
I am deciding toward a 14-50. The 60 amp is slightly faster but like you said, 2kW more an hour is like 30 minutes faster in the real world. Not substantial enough. But the wall charger does look nice!
But then that’s having two dedicated circuits vs splitting one circuit with a clipper creek? Curious what people eventually do that’s more cost effective if they need two chargers.
Most of my neighbors paid around $500-700 for their Nema 14-50 but they all own Teslas. Is Rivian the only one that needs a faster 60 amp breaker since it can handle up to 11.1 kW? Are Teslas not as fast charging?
A friend told me if I am going with Nema 14-50, to request specifically for a...
So I have been reading up on the typical NEMA 14-50 plug that most EV owners get. I don’t know why exactly it’s called a plug but the 60 amp is called hardwire. I’m assuming the NEMA 14-50 is a lot cheaper than the 60 amp? At a 135 kW R1S battery, these 2 options are, I believe, a difference...
I basically ordered 3 years later and we are both being told first half of 2023. Yeah right. I guess they will be 3-4 years late from when they promised you in 2020 delivery.
One to two months on the R1T large pack with an order placed in 2021? Pretty fast. R1S could be an entirely different story compared to R1T. I’d be stoked if I could get mine in before July 2023.
Yes I have the large pack. That’s 300 mile range right?
They going to have to really ramp up production to get it in the next 6-9 months. I hope you’re right though.
Is this delivery realistic? I placed just on Nov 2021 for R1S. Whenever I asked Rivian, they say it’s still on track for first half of 2023. The excitement is killing me.
