I had a 2016 Porsche Boxster GTS that was sold to help finance the Rivian purchase.
More than once, when I was stopped at a light with the top down, people asked me what I did for a living to afford such an expensive car.
Nobody asks that about the Rivian.
This is in northwest Pennsylvania...
I understand folks that only want the manufacturer / dealer to work on their vehicle. I have no issue with that.
But it seems that Rivian is supporting some specific 3rd party organizations in some of the simpler maintenance procedures. I think that is a good strategy as it makes service more...
When the Rivian mobile service guy came to install my spare tire shortly after I took delivery, I asked if he knew where I could get my required PA state inspection, and he told me that Dunn had been trained, had the pucks, knew the procedures, etc.
So despite the concerns from the other side...
You're right.
I will post a retraction.
Whatever you do, for heaven's sake DO NOT go to DunnTIre for a free tire rotation and 7500 mile inspection.
I feel better now.
As in the original post, I have no affiliation to the company.
I thought maybe someone in the area would want to take advantage.
Probably not worth the drive from Colorado.
Dunn Tire is a tire sales and auto service chain in western NY and Northwest PA. They are trained on Rivian tire service and alignments.
They advertise "free lifetime tire rotations", but I always assumed it was only if you bought tires there. It's not.
I took my R1S there today for the 7500...
I can see the current iteration being useful on a rural two lane.
I have played with it a little in my suburban wanderings but next thing you know there's a stop sign or a traffic light or a jogger and you need to take over.
But a step in the right direction.
Oh, I agree 1000% with the comments...
I am hoping that the "monthly" plan can be bought for one month at a time, then cancelled, then bought again for a month when needed.
I can see using it like the Tesla charging membership, turning it on for a road trip.
Most of my driving is local / city / suburban these days.
Yes. You can also do this with just about any ICE car sold in the last few years.
Yep. I had a Grand Cherokee with a 100v outlet. Just never thought about it.
Must have been the Halloween thing.
I miss the frog.
I am in my late 60's and have driven well over a million miles. I like the Enhanced Driver Assist on the highway better than I expected. The vehicle goes the speed I want, changes lanes when I want it to, and does (almost) nothing unexpected. It lessens the tedium of a long interstate drive...
Same here. "Draft Content".
Not a lease, bought new, took delivery end of May 2025.
I will wait a couple of hours before I install the download, in case they take the update back.
I have a Rivian charger. I don't know if there is a way to get data from the charger, unless the "history" number comes from the charger.
Next time I use a public charger I will pay attention to the data.
The screen in the vehicle matches the "last session" number, not the "history" number.
After a charging session, the "last session" data in the app does not match the numbers for the same session in the "history" section. Am I missing something?
For example, my "last session" shows 46.6kWh...45.0 to the battery, 1.6 to "system".
The history tab for the same session shows 50kWh.
the trip calculator isn't good for long term efficiency calculations.
I agree 100%. Plus there was a stretch of time where it was not calculating correctly at all. I keep a spreadsheet.
And other than it's a fun number to know, having that number doesn't affect my behavior.
When I charge at...
Trip B shows 12k miles (approx 7 months) and a whopping 1.54 mi/kWh efficiency. I reset Trip A after the efficiency update/fix. That says 2,500 miles and 2.14 mi/kWh.
If your driving habits did not change drastically 2500 miles ago, then I would suggest that the Trip B data is unreliable and...
As mentioned by @MontyJ, don't believe that trip display. Mine was all over the place. I reset it after one of the summer updates and it has been accurate since.
Easy enough to look at your charging history vs your miles traveled and calculate your own number.
